Every spring in Indiana, the “mystery screeching chimney” calls begin. 😅🐦

And right on schedule… they’re back.

If you’re hearing loud chirping or screeching sounds coming from your chimney - there’s a good chance you have Chimney Swift visitors nesting inside.

The good news?
They’re harmless, protected migratory birds.

The frustrating news?
They can be VERY loud — especially when the babies hatch and start demanding dinner all day long. 😄

A few important things homeowners should know:
🔥 Do NOT use your fireplace while swifts are nesting
🚫 Chimney swifts are federally protected
🛠️ Nest removal is not allowed while active nesting is taking place
📅 The birds typically leave on their own later in the summer

Once the swifts migrate, Beck’s can install a proper chimney cap to help prevent future visitors from moving in next season.

“Roof leak… or chimney leak?” 🌧️🏠

After weeks of heavy rain here in Noblesville, we’ve been helping a lot of homeowners track down mystery leaks.

Jane C. noticed water staining on the ceiling above the front of her fireplace - even though she doesn’t use the fireplace. She had already replaced the flashing about 15 months ago, and the roofers believed everything looked good.

When our team inspected the chimney, we found the real problem:
👉 a rusted chimney chase cover that was allowing water into the home.

The home inspection was going smoothly… until they turned on the gas fireplace. 🔥

Within seconds, the smoke detector started blaring — and it wouldn’t stop unless the fireplace was shut off.
