Today was a heavy day for our team.
Two of our dump trucks were involved in a tragic accident with a pickup truck. Sadly, the driver of the pickup did not survive. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Both of our drivers, Glenn and Justin, survived the accident. They are pretty beaten up with some broken bones and stitches, but we are beyond grateful they are still with us.
I want to give a huge thank you to Cory Thomas for dropping everything and coming straight to the scene to assist. He stayed with at the scene for the better part of the day and his support meant more than we can say. A big thank you as well to the J. Edwards and Sons team for stepping in and helping when it was most needed. We are truly grateful for you all.
Thank you also to Scottie and Kyle Perdue for checking on me and helping with the cleanup. And to everyone who has reached out with a call, a message, or just to check in, we appreciate every single one of you.
I am extremely proud of how Glenn and Justin reacted in such a tragic and high pressure situation. There was absolutely nothing either of them could have done to avoid the accident, and yet they did everything right in the moment. I am thankful for the way they handled something no one ever wants to face.
Please keep Glenn, Justin and their families in your prayers as they begin to heal, and especially keep the family of the man who lost his life in your prayers. This has affected all of us deeply.
We may not be hauling sand or gravel for a little while as we take time to recover, but we will definitely be back.
Thank you all for your kindness and support.
