Gutter guard companies are inundating
people on the web and TV .
I have been in the gutter cleaning business
for 30 years. This is a marketing scam,
That you will never have to clean your gutters.
I have been removing gutter guards for 30
years due to them allowing debris to go through
and accumulate in the gutters. If you have pine trees
the needles lay on top of the gutter guards and restrict the water
from draining in the gutters. What happens over time, roof asphalt
sand gets into the gutters and small plants, and moss grow.
You must wash out the gutters once a year
to prevent this from happening. We always wash
or blow out the sand from gutters.
If you have a severe pitch on your roof, During a torrential
downpour of rain, it will cascade over the gutters.
Due to them being covered or if you have gutter helmets,
the small opening does NOT allow the water to enter fast
enough to keep up with the rain.
