Celebrating Black Pioneers in Science and Their Impact on Pest Management
This Black History Month, we shine a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of African American scientists in fields like biology, chemistry, and environmental science—areas crucial to advancing pest control strategies and innovations.
Today we Honor Dr. Charles Henry Turner. A pioneer in entomology, Dr. Turner was one of the first to prove that insects can hear and distinguish pitch, that cockroaches can learn by trial and error, and that honeybees can see color. His work laid the foundation for better understanding pest behavior, which is critical for developing more effective management strategies.
