Good afternoon! Just a reminder regarding our Hessel location and the new dryers.
The original tumblers have been removed and replaced with newer, more efficient versions. These units have a larger drum, more airflow and are more energy efficient. They are designed to tumble at moderate temperatures, not as high as the original units. While this may seem counterintuitive to the drying process of doing laundry, the older dryers are no longer serviceable and parts are no longer available to repair.
What does this mean for you? Please verify the drying instructions on your garments or laundry items. Insert the required amount of quarters and set the temperature accordingly. We recommend leaving the door shut during the entire cycle to save heat less. The last few minutes of the cycle are considered the “cool down” to allow the temperature to drop and not scorch or burn items at the bottom of the barrel.
Here’s a quick review of a typical load of laundry:
10lbs or less (average load): 35-40 minutes. High temp.
10lbs or more (jeans, sweaters, jackets and heavy or bulky loads): 40-60 minutes. Medium to high temp.
Blankets, towels, bedding, comforters and quilts: 60-90 minutes. Medium to high temp.
*Please note that this will vary based on dampness and material, ambient temp and humidity. We politely ask that you not mark or tag dryers out of order, based on these instructions. The dryers have been tested and work according to manufacturers specs. Thank you!*
