In 1990, a girl from Fajardo, Puerto Rico walked into history. 🇵🇷

Dr. Antonia Novello became the first woman AND the first Hispanic ever appointed as U.S. Surgeon General. She didn't just break the glass ceiling: she shattered it in a Navy uniform, with a Puerto Rican flag pin on her chest.

She grew up with a serious health condition that required surgery she couldn't access until she was 18. That experience shaped everything. She became a pediatrician, a public health champion, and one of the most powerful voices in American medicine. Eso es lo que hacemos. That's what we do.
