- May 20, 1966: It may be too premature for swimming, but it is ti,e for lifeguards, like Fred Willecke of Grymes Hill, to take their posts on Staten Island's public beaches. Willecke went on duty with other lifeguards at South Beach as the beaches opened for the season. And 80-degree weather sent many sun worshipers to the sand. Few ventured into the surf. Gateway Rotary Club of Staten Island had the pleasure of having the Honorable Judge Ray Rodriguez for Supreme Court and our fellow brother Rotarian Matthew Santamauro for Civil Court Judge, who is seeking a position as Civil Court Judge.

Judge Rodriguez gave us an informative presentation on his campaign for Staten Island. It was a very insightful evening for all attendees. We thank you for coming to our meeting and wish you continued success.
