This was hiding inside a porch ceiling.

Another huge wasp nest removal.

Most people never get the chance to see what’s hidden inside a yellow jacket nest. This removal gives us a look at the colony’s developing brood.

Inside the nest you’ll see:
🥚 Eggs
🐛 Developing larvae
🧩 The paper comb, constructed from chewed wood fibers mixed with saliva

One of the most interesting details appears near the end of the video is the dark black line running along the top of each larva.

This is the dorsal vessel, the insect equivalent of a heart. Instead of pumping blood through closed arteries like humans, it moves hemolymph (insect “blood”) throughout the larva’s body, delivering nutrients and supporting development.

Every larva develops inside its own hexagonal cell before transforming into an adult yellow jacket. By late summer, a single colony can contain thousands of yellow jackets, making professional removal the safest option when a nest is found near your home or business.
