I want to thank everyone who supported Simpson Auto Care this past year! It means so much to me being able to enjoy what I do for a living while supporting my wife and 6 kids. Tiffany and the older kids often help me when I get behind. I love teaching the kids my passion of vehicles and taking them to salvage yards. It has been a blessing that each year our business continues to grow. On top of detailing and upholstery I also do brake jobs, suspension, tune ups and other auto repairs. Have a blessed new year!

My grandpa Charles Simpson would be 100 today. The youngest of 9 children he was born November 19, 1925 in Harlan County Wallins Creek, Kentucky. A WW2 veteran, he fought in the battle of the bulge. His family left Kentucky for job opportunities and moved to the house across the street from the library in New Paris where he met my grandma Patty who lived in the house north of the car wash. They married in 1948 and had 5 children. Often working 2 full time jobs at one time such as at Wayne Works painting busses, Crosley, also as custodian at National Trail High school and the Richmond mall. I remember him sitting in his recliner smoking a pipe or ci******es watching westerns with a speaker on a stand next to where he sat so he could hear it. At Christmas time he had a train set with live smoke he would set up for us grandkids, I remembered it smelled so good. I was 10 when he passed and wish I could have got to know him better as he liked cars also.

I had the privilege of working on this 1969 GMC Jimmy K5 a while back. Although it was kind of rough it was all original and the owner wanted to keep it that way but wanted it cleaned up. I wet sanded the faded dark green original paint and buffed it out. In the hood picture on the left is before and on the right is after.

Many see the Jocko statue as racist but the lawn jockey is a part of American history and was a symbol of freedom to escaping slaves. Landowners of the Underground Railroad would use the statues to let slaves know it was a safe house. I restored this one by hand painting every color to the owner’s specifications and then spraying it with automotive clear coat for weather protection.

Praise God! Luke (9) and Meira (6) have followed the Lord Jesus in baptism. After years of taking our children to church and discussing Jesus with them our 3 oldest have publicly confessed Him as their Lord and Savior. They have trusted in Jesus’s sacrifice for their sins for a while but have finally made the decision to follow Him in baptism.
Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

I’m so honored, my oldest twin son Benjamin has decided to follow the Lord in baptism today. He has repented of his sins and believed the gospel like Jesus commanded in Mark 1:15. Benjamin believes that Jesus Christ died for his sins, was buried and rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4.) He was excited to be buried in baptism with Jesus in obedience to the scriptures Romans 6:4. He will be 9 years old May 10th.

My grandma Patty Simpson is 97 today! Born in her family home on Salisbury rd in Richmond, the third of four children. Her family moved to the house next to the car wash on Washington street in New Paris and she graduated in 1946 from Jefferson high school here in town. She married my grandpa in 1948 and raised 5 children. After mom passed away when Jesse and I were kids grandma stepped up to fill that role. She would take us to our appointments or sports practices if dad was at work, also inviting us to church and cooking us meals. She embodies the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and has been instrumental in my walk with Jesus.

This picture was taken Memorial Day 2016 after the parade in the cemetery. I done a frame off restoration on this 1942 Ford GPW and asked these four New Paris WW2 vets to get their picture taken with it. From left to right is Red King, Jim Moore, John Keller and Ralph Silvers. Jim Moore rode with me in the parade. I believe Red King is still alive but the other three have passed. Thank you for all of the veterans who have fought for our freedom.
