Video of a Field Cricket (Gryllus Pennsylvanicus) in New Haven, Connecticut. Since this cricket is making that beautiful noise (or annoying depending how you look at it) that means it is a male. Male field crickets make that chirp or song for a few reasons, and they can be distinct from one another. They have fight songs, warning songs, and mating songs.

If Bobby Corrigan says the rats were exterminated from the storm than they most likely were. It has been a pleasure having met Bobby Corrigan at multiple Integrated Pest Management conferences in the past.

Wonder what the chances are this happened in parts of Connecticut that had bad flooding as well.

Many of the surviving rats are reportedly seeking safer ground inside people's homes and in city parks.

Blue mud dauber wasp found on a garage in New Fairfield, CT. Mud daubers are non-aggressive and like other types of wasps, males do not have an ovipositor, and therefore cannot sting.

Famously known to target black widow spiders, the blue mud dauber takes a spider food source back into its nest for the emerging larvae.
