I really haven’t posted on hear in along time but you’ll be hearing more from me moving forward.
2025/2026 Have been extremely hard on me personally and professionally.
I’m currently looking for a spot to rent in Harbor Country that’s affordable so that I can continue to provide my clients the five star service you have grown to love and expect. Strap in this is a doozy of a story and one hundred percent accurate.
Here’s a story only the closest of people in our community know about me.
Two years ago my completely healthy 55 year old wife, started having blurry vision.
To this point in her career she had worked hard in the Public Relations industry and been a managing partner for quite a few years knocking down a very mid six figure salary.
She has won PR’s equivalent to Emmys at least six times, my wife has the awards still wrapped in plastic in boxes.
She lost her last position in August of 2024, but recruiters were already calling to get inline to interview her
Her blurry vision led to a led to a visit to a standard optometrist, which lead to a visit to an ophthalmologist, which led to an MRI, which led to a Neuro-Opthamologist.
The day before Thanksgiving 2024 our world stopped, turned upside down and life got REAL.
My seemingly healthy wife, was diagnosed with a genetic eyed disorder called Lebers Hereditary Optic Neuropathy.
This disease has no known cure, and very little research has is being done about it, even less data is available on post menopausal women.
We went to Emory University in Atlanta in early 2025 to see the leading specialist in the United States in this disease, and she was very straight and to the point. We got this appointment by me selling my keg sprayer I invented to a weekend warrior detailer many of us know in the detailing community Dr Owen Samuels, not only did he get us the appointment, he and his wife Jodee opened there home to my wife and I and made us dinner.
By July 2025 my wife lost vision completely in her left eye, and couldn’t even perceive light.
At this point hard decisions needed to be made. We could no longer afford to stay in our dream home, a beautiful 2800 square foot home sitting on 1/3 of an acre, a 16’x40’ pool in our back yard.
I ran my shop from there as well and it was my dream shop. 3 cars wide, epoxy floor, LED lighting, heated and air conditioning.
No more mobile detailing for me.
But wait there’s more.
We sold the house in early December 2025. My wife went to the State of Michigan-Bureau of Blind Services in Kalamazoo on the campus if Western Michigan University to learn how to live life as a sightless person while I lived with our dogs in a rented home, trying to find an affordable shop to rent.
My wife came home the week before Christmas and by February lost the vision in her right eye completely as well.
I have had to learn to be her caregiver, and watch this very talented woman, lay in bed curled in a ball for weeks at a time.
By January I found a small space to work from, shout it to US 12 Speed & Custom, but that only lasted until June.
I then found another small spot that I’m in until then end of October, thank you Classic Imports
In June my wife was approved to get a guide dog, on her third day at the facility she navigated successfully down a flight of ten steps with her new companion animal. Thinking she was on the ground floor of an unfamiliar place she turned right at unknowingly walked right out into space luckily on her backside, down another flight of stairs companion animal animal and all.
She tried gutting it out a few more days, but ended up back at how, several doctors visits and and an MRI would later reveal a broken pelvis and broken left elbow.
She was in bed for 8 weeks recovering.
Throw in my mom being in a skilled nursing home, and my mother in law on dyalysis 5 days a week.
To say the last two years have been tough is an understatement
My point is this life will throw us challenges, how we choose to respond is a choice.
Thank you to everyone who had continued supporting me and my small business.
