I am not looking forward to this coming Tuesday and Wednesday heat index situation at all. Pennsylvania is about to turn into one giant crockpot with hills. Tuesday already looks rough, with highs around 92 in Philly, 94 in Harrisburg, 95 in Lancaster, 96 in Pittsburgh, 92 in York, 91 in Allentown, 92 in State College, 92 in Williamsport, 89 in Scranton, and even Erie getting dragged into the nonsense around 92. That is not “summer weather.” That is “don’t touch the seatbelt buckle unless you have made peace with your ancestors” weather.

And Wednesday looks even worse for a lot of us. Harrisburg could be around 104, York around 103, Williamsport around 102, Lancaster around 101, Allentown around 100, Scranton and State College near 99, Philadelphia around 98, and Pittsburgh around 98 too. The heat index in parts of the state may push into that 100 to 105+ range, which is the kind of weather where the air feels like it was exhaled by a Sheetz parking lot. I love Pennsylvania, but this is the part of summer where I start respecting anyone who owns blackout curtains, a box fan, and the emotional strength to cook dinner without using the oven.
