Nesting! Another great storage idea that I adore!

In our house we have a LOT of bags: backpacks, tote bags, gym bags, bags you get for free, duffle bags, suitcases, etc. If I tried to store each individually, it would take up space but yet they each serve a purpose so I have to find a way to store them.

I put all the small bags into the big black bag we bought for my oldest son for his mission trip a few years back. It holds a lot more than it appears to be able to!

After it has bags in it, I place the black bag into the red suitcase that my other son uses.

The red suitcase fits into the big blue suitcase and now I only have to find room for it! Luckily, I kept a space open in my closet specifically for it.

There are many items you can nest for storage, especially in the kitchen. Have a look around your house and I bet you will find things you can nest and double your space!

Okay so the other day, I was raving about utilizing old "bed in a bag" containers for storage. I have done it for years and think it's a wonderful solution for linens.

However, as the saying goes, the best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry!

I have a much smaller linen closet so I was going to have to put my linens on my, also much smaller, closet shelf. The bags took up too much space!

I love using what I already have so I looked around to see what I had that I could utilize without spending money. I found these gems that also had store bought linens in them. I moved 3 blankets to one and all the sheets to the other. They lay flat and they fit under my bed! So, they are still stored in a way that keeps them neat and tidy but grants me space in my closet!

Alrighty! I have been quiet and MIA for a bit and for that I apologize. Life has happened, as it does, and has momentarily pulled me in various directions.

One of those directions is that I had to move. I didn't move far, but I still had to move. My family and I chose a slightly smaller home with not quite as much storage space as the house we came from. This presents a challenge; a fun, sometimes frustrating, challenge. It forced us to really declutter and look at what is worth moving and what we really needed to have. You won't believe how much stuff you acquire when you've been in one place a decade or longer!

Here's the good news: my pain is your gain! I am going to share some of the ways I have organized and maximized space as I get settled in. Hopefully, it will give you ideas for your humble abode (or office).

So, let's get the ball rolling with something simple and something you may have heard before (but it's true and works)!

Do you know those bags that you get when you buy a "bed in a bag"? Do you throw them away? If so, stop!!! They can be major storage savers!

In these bags, I have:

Bag #1: 2 twin size mattress protectors, 2 sets of twin size sheets and 1 set of queen size sheets.

Bag #2: 1 queen size electric blanket, 1 queen size regular blanket, a full size blanket, and a queen size pillow.

Bag #3: 2 (yes, 2!) sleeping bags and 2 full size blankets.

Grabbing a bag is much easier than rifling through linens, plus they are easier to put up and you don't have to worry about stacks of linens coming unfolded in your closet!

Cleaning? De-cluttering? Organizing? What is the difference between them all? Aren't they all basically the same?

They are all different, but enter twined just the same. Doing one, makes the others easier. Let me explain!

Cleaning is that "C" word that we all hate! Doing the dishes. Scrubbing the toilets. Taking out the trash. You know, the day to day stuff that we try to have our kids help us with but they usually moan and groan while they do it? De-cluttering is part of cleaning, but it is not cleaning entirely.

De-cluttering is getting rid of stuff. Less stuff in the house = less stuff to clean! If you don't use it, have a place for it, if it's broken, if it doesn't fit.....it must leave the premises! If it's in good shape, donate it to a charity of your choice or host a garage sale if you have enough stuff. Otherwise, toss it! It's a good idea to peruse certain areas of your house, like the bathroom cabinets, a few times per year at least. You can de-clutter as you clean!

Organizing! This is the fun part, for me anyway. This is where a few simple changes can make your entire room or house feel new again! This is the step where you take everything that you did not donate/sell/toss and find a place for it. If everything has a place, it is easier to keep the house tidy and clean, especially when you have unexpected company announce their quick arrival!

Do you see where I am going with this? Get rid of the stuff you don't use, organize the rest, and cleaning becomes a breeze!!

So let me come and help you de-clutter and organize your home so that you can spend less time cleaning (that part's on you 😀) and more time binge watching Netflix! PM me here or email [email protected] to schedule your appointment!

I was recently asked why I decided to start this particular business. This was my response:

I love to organize. I love the feel I get when I walk into an organized, clutter free room. I know that when I was working full-time, I didn't have the time to create a totally organized space. Now that I have had some "free time" I have been able to get my home more organized and stream lined and it has made my life much less stressful!

I get it. Life gets hectic. Work, school, band, sports, dance, etc., can take it's toll on everyone. Don't stress! Let me help make things easier by decluttering and organizing for you! Never ask yourself where the heating pad is or why you have 4 opened jars of Costco size peanut butter, again!

Wow! We received 50 likes in 24 hours! I knew we could do it!! Thank you for help!

Did you know that the biggest time challenge for de cluttering and organizing is the purging process? Do you know that if you don't purge periodically, you can't truly live an organized life? Things just pile up over time? Do you REALLY know how long that bottle of spaghetti sauce has been in your pantry, fridge or freezer?

Would you like to learn the basics on how to de-clutter prior to organzing? Would you like to see some basic storage ideas that won't break the bank? Would you like to learn how to re-purpose what you have?

If so, guess what? You can!!! Klutter Knot offers classes that do just that!!! Classes are a 2 hour time block, in your home or mine, or even in your place of business!! Mimimum class size is 5 people.

Contact us at Klutter.Knot@ gmail.com or via our FB page! We'd love to show you the ropes to help you get started "un-knotting" your life!
