Things NEW clients, current clients, and ohhhh, let’s not forget OLD clients do that irritate me as a professional cleaner… because BABY, I sure will let you go. 😂👏🏼
I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I’m beyond thankful for my clients, but some of y’all really know how to test every ounce of patience I have. 😂
1. Not disclosing pests. PLEASEEEEE. 😭 I don’t care if you have roaches, mice, fleas, or bedbugs. I’m not judging you, but I NEED to know before I walk through that door. Finding out because something just ran across my foot is NOT how I wanted to start my morning.
2. “It’s really not that bad.” Why are we lying to each other already? 😂 I literally clean houses for a living. You don’t have to convince me your house is clean. Just tell me what I’m walking into so I can quote you correctly.
3. Asking for a discount before I even give you a price. You haven’t even told me how many bathrooms you have, and we’re already negotiating? 😭
4. Not reading ANYTHING I send you. The checklist, the policies, the pricing, the deposit information. ALL OF IT. I promise I didn’t spend hours making those PDFs for decoration. 😂
5. Adding extra work when I arrive. “Oh, and can you do the oven? And the fridge? And maybe the windows?” Absolutely! But that price is going to change right along with that list. 😂
6. “My last cleaner was cheaper.” Okay? 😭 Respectfully, I’m not your last cleaner. Everyone has different prices, and I’m not going to argue about mine.
7. Making me chase you down for payment. I showed up on time, brought my supplies, and completed the work. Now why am I having to send three messages to get paid? 😂
8. Following me around the entire house. I promise I’m not going to steal your baseboards. 😭😂 Let me get in my zone and CLEAN.
9. Not picking up clutter after we specifically discussed it. If you booked a cleaning and not organizing, please make sure I can actually reach the things I’m supposed to clean.
10. Canceling at the last minute for no good reason. Emergencies happen, and I completely understand that. But my schedule is how I make a living. That appointment could’ve gone to someone else.
11. Expecting 10 years of buildup to disappear in 30 minutes. Some things take TIME. And sometimes, no matter how much you scrub, certain surfaces are permanently damaged or stained.
12. “I saw someone on TikTok do it in 60 seconds.” Yeah, and that video was sped up 20 times. 😂
13. Not telling me something is broken until I get there. No running water? Broken toilet? Sink doesn’t drain? These are things I need to know BEFORE my appointment.
14. Expecting me to move furniture that weighs more than I do. I’m a professional cleaner, not a furniture moving company. 😂
15. “Can you do one more little thing?” And somehow that little thing turns into an additional hour of work. 😭
16. Not answering your phone when I arrive. I’m outside, I’ve called, I’ve texted, and now I’m sitting in your driveway questioning every decision I’ve made today. 😂
17. Arguing about my prices. You are more than welcome to get other quotes. I will NEVER be offended by someone choosing a cleaner who better fits their budget. But please don’t disrespect me because my prices aren’t what you expected.
18. Not mentioning pet accidents. I love animals, but if there’s urine or f***s that needs to be cleaned, I need to know. That’s not always included in a standard cleaning.
19. Expecting me to clean areas I can’t physically access. If there’s a mountain of belongings in front of something, I cannot magically clean through it. 😂
20. Thinking because you’re paying me, you can talk to me however you want. ABSOLUTELY NOT. 😂 I don’t care if you’ve been a client for two days or two years. Respect goes both ways.
21. Trying to guilt-trip me into lowering my prices. I have a HUGE heart, and I do free cleanings for people in need because I genuinely love helping others. But please don’t take advantage of that kindness when it comes to my business.
22. Expecting me to be available 24/7. I have a child, a life, and a business to run. If I don’t respond to your message at 11:30 at night, I promise I’ll get back to you when I can. 😂
23. Treating my schedule like it’s optional. If you’re scheduled for a certain time, that time was reserved specifically for you. I can’t just rearrange my entire day because you decided you wanted a different appointment at the last minute.
24. Being super sweet until I tell you something costs extra. Now why did the whole attitude change because I told you cleaning the inside of your
refrigerator wasn’t included? 😭😂
25. Thinking being a longtime client means my policies no longer apply to you. I appreciate loyalty more than you know, but that doesn’t mean boundaries go out the window. And YES, I will absolutely let a longtime client go if the disrespect becomes a pattern.
And while we’re on that subject, being a previous client does not guarantee I’ll accept another booking from you. 😂
Now, before anybody gets upset, let me make something VERY clear.
I will NEVER judge you for having a dirty home. I don’t care if you haven’t cleaned in six months, you’re struggling with depression, you’re overwhelmed, or life has simply gotten away from you. THAT is why I do what I do.
But there’s a difference between needing help and taking advantage of the person helping you.
I have worked way too hard building my business to allow someone to disrespect me simply because they’re paying for a service.
I can be kind, understanding, professional, AND still have boundaries. ❤️
And to my amazing clients who respect my time, communicate with me, and appreciate my work, I LOVE Y’ALL. You’re the reason I love doing this every single day.
Now, CLEANERS… WHAT DID I MISS?! 😂 Because I already know some of y’all have STORIES.
