Old-world character, with all the conveniences of a modern kitchen.

We kept the cabinetry soft and muted, incorporated distinctive cabinet details, and brought in warm brass hardware and lighting from . Even the ceiling beams were carefully considered, from their spacing and scale to the way they help define the room.

The goal was a kitchen that felt as though it belonged here all along, while still working beautifully for a young family today.

We came into this project early, and our clients already had some really fun ideas and pieces in place. Our role was to help bring it all together into a home that felt cohesive, thoughtful, and completely their own.

From refining architectural details to selecting finishes, materials, and furnishings, we had the opportunity to help shape this home from the bigger picture down to the smallest details.

Feminine with a retro lean. This pantry has a look all its own, while the checkerboard floor carries through from the adjoining spaces. It became the thread connecting the project, even as each room took on a personality of its own.

Excited to finally share this project for a busy young family. We had the chance to rethink some of the spaces they use every day, giving them a little more personality while making them work better for real life.

We’re starting where the family does: the mudroom. Plenty of hidden storage keeps everything that collects by the door tucked away, while thoughtful details make this hardworking space feel like part of the home.

Our favorite part? That little pop of magenta on the trim of the custom cushions.

One of our favorite practical touches for this young family was the quartz countertops. They are durable enough for everyday use, easy to maintain, and still feel bright and happy in the space.

When we design a nursery, we’re thinking beyond what the room needs right now. Which pieces can stay? What can easily change? How will the storage, furniture, and layout work when the needs of the room are completely different?

By keeping some elements more timeless and letting the easier-to-change details bring in personality, the room has the flexibility to evolve without needing to be completely redesigned a few years from now.

That’s where thoughtful design really matters. It’s not just about creating a beautiful room for today, but making choices that continue to work well over time.

A kitchen island is more than a place to prep dinner. We wanted this one to be where homework gets spread out, friends lean while you cook, groceries get unpacked, and people naturally gather. That's what guided the design from the beginning.

We’re always looking for opportunities to give everyday routines a dedicated home. We designed this beverage station to keep glassware, drinks, and everything you need for hosting or winding down at the end of the day right where it belongs, without taking over the kitchen.

We love designing built-ins because they solve so many things at once. They give the fireplace a stronger presence, provide plenty of storage, and leave room to display the pieces that tell our clients' story. Getting all of that into one feature is what makes custom millwork so rewarding to design.

We're also lucky that my favorite custom carpenter happens to be my husband! We get to collaborate on so many projects together, with me envisioning and designing the details and Paul bringing them to life through Paul Blankman Carpentry.

Our clients often tell us how much they love that we're so in tune with each other's ideas, and we think that's what makes the process even more enjoyable.

We loved bringing a little color into this space with the backsplash. It may look like tile, but it's actually wallpaper. The blue pattern gives the room so much personality, while the repeating curves keep it feeling soft and inviting. It's one of those details that catches your eye every time you walk in.

The clean lines of the board and batten create structure, while the wallpaper beyond adds movement and visual interest exactly where it's needed. Instead of competing, each detail plays a role in making the entry feel balanced and inviting.

If there's one detail we'll almost always advocate for, it's pinch pleat drapery.

They frame a room in a way that feels tailored without feeling fussy, adding softness, height, and just the right amount of structure.

In this dining room, they help create a backdrop that lets every other layer shine, from the sculptural chandelier to the upholstered chairs and botanical touches.

Sometimes the details that seem the quietest are the ones that make a room feel the most complete.

One thing we’ve learned over the years is that renovations feel far less overwhelming when there’s a clear plan from the beginning.

Most clients come to us excited about their project, but unsure where to start or how to make confident decisions along the way. There are so many moving parts involved, and without the right guidance, it’s easy for things to become stressful quickly.

Our favorite time to join a project is as early as possible. When we’re involved from the start, we’re able to think through the details ahead of time, create a cohesive plan, and help avoid costly changes later on.

Kitchens naturally have a lot of hard surfaces, so adding texture underfoot can completely change the way the space feels. A rug helps warm things up visually, adds another layer of personality, and can make a larger kitchen feel more grounded and lived in.

We especially love using them in front of sinks, beneath breakfast tables, or in long galley style kitchens where they help break up all the cabinetry and flooring.
The key is choosing materials and patterns that can handle real everyday life while still feeling beautiful in the space.

Some of our favorite spaces are the ones that feel collected over time rather than perfectly styled all at once.

This built-in shelving was designed to feel like a natural extension of the home, with traditional cabinetry below and open shelving above to keep the room feeling balanced and inviting. We layered in pottery, artwork, greenery, and collected objects to add warmth and personality while still keeping everything functional.

This is one of our favorite kinds of transformations, when a space not only looks beautiful, but truly feels like it belongs.

When we first saw this kitchen addition, it did not feel like it was part of the original Victorian home. Our goal was to change that through layered details that felt intentional, timeless, and true to the character of the house, while still supporting the needs of a busy modern family. A little love letter to built ins 💌

This arched cabinet was such a joy to bring to life. Shaker style storage below keeps things practical and tucked away while the open shelving above gives space for the pieces you actually want to see and enjoy. The arched top with vertical shiplap and brass rail details adds a quiet layer of charm without feeling overdone.

We styled it with blue and white ceramics, warm brass accents and a touch of greenery to keep everything feeling collected and lived in.

We love when a piece like this feels like it has always belonged in the home.

This La Cornue range in matte black with polished brass trim is one of the key focal points in this kitchen. It sits within a layered material palette of soft-toned cabinetry, veined marble, and warm brass details that feel balanced and intentional.

Above it, a plaster range hood was designed to quietly blend in, allowing the range to take center stage. And of course, we had to include a brass pot filler. Once you have one, you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Just off the main kitchen, this coffee bar was our opportunity to bring in darker tones while still keeping everything cohesive.

Swipe to see the details that make it special. The deeper finish, brass hardware, and wire mesh inserts add texture and character, giving it its own identity.

A tucked-away space that naturally fits into the rhythm of everyday life.

There are so many details in this kitchen that deserve their own spotlight.

The walnut island was designed to feel more like a piece of furniture anchoring the room rather than something built in. It brings in warmth and helps balance all of the lighter elements in the space.

It is where everyone tends to gather, whether that is for meals, homework, or just passing through during the day.

This kitchen is part of a beautiful Victorian home in Natick, but the existing addition didn’t reflect any of the character of the original house. It felt like a white box disconnected from the rest of the home.

We gutted the space and reimagined it to feel more cohesive, layered, and full of personality, while still working hard for a large family and two very energetic dogs.

There are so many special details in this one. We can’t wait to show you more.
