PEST CONTROL: MYTH OR FACT?

MYTH: If I don't see pests, I don't have a pest problem.

FACT: Many pests are very good at staying out of sight. They may spend much of their time inside walls, crawlspaces, attics, cabinets and other areas you rarely see.

By the time you actually spot a pest, there may already be more activity happening behind the scenes.

That is one reason routine pest control can be important. It is not just about treating the pests you see—it is also about identifying conditions and activity that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Have a pest-control question you would like us to answer in our next Myth vs. Fact?

Could Your Firewood Be Bringing Pests Closer to Home?

A stack of firewood may look harmless, but it can provide the perfect hiding place for spiders, ants, beetles and other unwanted pests. And when firewood is stored right next to your home, those pests are already one step closer to getting inside.

A few simple precautions can help:
Store firewood away from your home
Keep wood elevated off the ground when possible
Inspect logs before bringing them indoors
Watch for webs, insects and other signs of pest activity
Bring in only the amount of firewood you plan to use

Enjoy your fireplace this fall—without giving pests a free ride inside!

Staff Highlight: Deirdre “Dee” Kennedy

Meet Deirdre Kennedy, better known as Dee, our Secretary/Receptionist and an important part of the Southern Pride Pest Control team for the past six years!

One of Dee’s favorite things about her job is working for a locally owned and operated business and having the opportunity to interact with people in the community she calls home.

After years of working in different jobs and places, she especially enjoys being able to work in the same town where she lives and grew up.

When she is not helping our customers and keeping things running smoothly at Southern Pride, Dee enjoys traveling and playing mahjong.

We are thankful to have Dee as part of the Southern Pride family!
