In case you didn't know, at LOG39 in Sturbridge, Massachusetts this past August, my Elise came in 2nd place for my class. And Penelope (my favorite Esprit) came in 1st place in her class.

It was very hard to take pictures of the swirls in the paint because the paint is white and there was too much glare. So I've just added the pics where you can see what work I did.. The car was in relatively good shape (other than the swirls) and a good polish (with a little compound in the high traffic areas), she came out looking pretty good if I don't say so myself!

Penelope, my favorite Esprit and she has one hell of a history but not one for me to tell. I can tell you that she's one of the first Esprits to come to the USA.
Anyway, I digress. Penelope had a repaint recently but had very little prep work as well as post work done. There was an overall "spot wet sanding" done but what I had to do was a complete wet sand to get her up to par. But first I had to deal with the "overspray" which was very difficult as I had to be careful of the trim and get the trim up to spec as well.
Then on to the paint: I started with 2 passes of hand wet sanding using 1500 grit (2 passes were necessary to get a good base to work with to try to rectify the hasty prep work). Then 1 pass of 2000 grit followed by 1 pass of 2500 grit,
With all the handwork done, I went to my buffers: 2 passes with compound using a buffer and finally 1 pass with a polish, also with a buffer. Finally a complete waxing.
This was one BIG job but I, as well as my favorite client (she knows who she is!) were very satisfied with the results. The pics speak for themselves but you can't see all the hard work that went into making Penelope completely gorgeous!

This car came in and it was in great shape (you can tell when an owner takes pride in his ride!) but as is always the case, swirl marks galore. But I believe I took care of that. Just look at all the before and after pics of each area. It's really evident in the head lights and tail lights!

This car is Gelcoated (same material used for marine craft). You can see how much "resin" was picked up by looking at my buffing pad. This car had to be compounded as well as polished and waxed.

This was a beast of a car. It was the "King of Kings" back in the day. Now, just a survivor with under 25K on the clock. Unfortunately, the car sat unprotected in the sun for many a moon (pardon the pun) resulting in cracked, dry and dead paint with numerous "stains" etched into the paint. So I was tasked to bring back as much luster as I could. Starting with the engine bay, ashed, degreased and a nice detail dressing. The paint on the hood and trunk were almost lost causes but I manage to eek out just enough shine. The sides were in much better shape but the chrome? The chrome was in really good shape, I just had to go in and find it and bring it out. With final dressing and polishing on the minor and smaller details, it helps with the overall look of the car. Even as far as the glass, sitting with condensation build up over the years, I had to polish the glass to rid them of the stains. Overall, I was very please with the net results as was my client. It is nice to see the glory returned to the "King"! (a split bench seat, now that was something to chuckle over! LOL)

Hey Folks! I haven't posted anything lately, just have been too busy (that's a good thing right?). So I've decided to just post a few pics of several cars that I have worked on recently. I will post a full version for each car in the near future.
