A quick PSA on rental machines-
Hey everyone!
Johnny here with some honest hard truth regarding those home shampooers so many of you use. Truthfully, these machines are nothing but bad and bluntly the only thing worse than using one of these units is just lighting your carpet directly on fire. Especially the way they’re being used.
The issue is SOAP. The product that comes with most of these units is soap based so you’re just filling your carpet with soap. The unit doesn’t have the power to pull it all out so as the soap hardens it naturally attracts dust, dirt and soil and over time turns black. You do it again and again thinking it looks better for a short while but it always gets worse. Then finally you give up and ask us to come fix it but please understand, we can’t over wet your carpet. We can only wet it so much without running the risk of causing mold and/or mildew to grow in the padding or backing so even the pros are limited in what we can do.
The very best usage for these units is that when you have a spill or a pet urinates on the carpet, just use plain cool or warm (never hot for urine) water and flush it all out. The soap does absolutely nothing but cause bigger problems, I promise you. You can add a capful of plain vinegar to urine issues but really that’s all you need. Here are some photos of a job we did this morning. Yes, we were able to get a lot of the soap out but not all which means as it dries it will attract again and the same thing will happen over and over until it eventually ruins your carpet. There are other issues regarding these units like potential water damage and degradation of the carpet fibers simply by walking on it but I’ll save that for another time. I really hope this rings a bell for some.
