Meet the Team: Amber Dobbins

As a Business and Marketing Consultant, Amber has been working with 4M’s Septic & Sewer for the past two years. Of her 30 years of marketing and management experience, some of her most memorable moments have been with 4M’s Septic & Sewer. Amber says “there is no shortage of puns and jokes in the septic industry.” She enjoys working with small businesses the best as “you really get to know the business and they become like family.” Besides developing and managing marketing plans, she also acts as a project manager for companies in various industries (i.e. website design from conception to completion); and even evaluates or develops company programs (i.e. Internships, Employee Rewards, etc.). Her passion divides her time as a Travel and Event Planner, typically for family and friends. In her spare time, Amber enjoys traveling and making jewelry.

Meet the Team: Robert “Earl” Bess

Earl’s dedication of 33 years to 4M’s Septic & Sewer can be seen in his hard work and eagerness to help customers. His fun and easy-going self shines through his personality, and can even be considered a “jokester” at times. In fact, when asked for one of the funniest things encountered on the job, Earl easily responded “when a new hire gets to learn the hard way of what NOT to do and ends up wearing it.”

While out in the field, you can find Earl pumping septic tanks, installing risers and baffles, along with replacing septic pumps and lines. He’s does a little of everything and is the “fix-it” guy around the shop. This all starting from buying his first car at 10 years old. Yes, 10 years old! He tore that ’62 Corvair apart and this is his where he first learned about cars and the mechanics of them. He’s worked as a wrecker, a full-service technician at a gas station, and was even a service man in an oil field. In his spare time, away from working in the field, you’ll still find him in the shop tinkering into the late hours.

Meet the Team: Erick Blackman

Erick has been a part of the team at 4M’s Septic & Sewer for seven years. As a Service Technician, he is in the field every day, from pumping septic tanks, installing risers and baffles to wet well cleaning and pump & haul services for local municipalities. Erick says the best part of his job is “helping others understand how a septic system works, and knowing it is working when he’s done.” While on the other hand, there are those days when he doesn’t like “delivering news about septic system problems or even a failing drainfield.” When not working, above all else, Erick loves spending time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys the outdoors mowing grass or riding his motorcycle. He can also be found watching or playing sports, including golfing and racing.

October is Women’s Small Business Month.

With that, what better time to introduce you to Kimberly Rowley, CEO/Owner of 4M’s Septic & Sewer. Never thinking she would be in the septic industry, it was inevitable when she met her husband, Robert Rowley in 1998. After her husband’s passing in 2018 and with the hard-working service technicians and their dedication to the company, she determined she must keep the company going. With that, she obtained the education she needed through the EPA, LARA, and EGLE and self taught herself the inner workings of the business. Already having her Class A CDL (40 years), she was easily able to adapt and even joined the technicians in the field when needed.

According to Kimberly, her favorite, and most rewarding, part of her job is “having been blessed with a wonderful team of employees that are knowledgeable and continue to learn about the services we provide. It gives us the opportunity to inform and educate our customers of proper maintenance of their septic systems to prevent costly repairs or replacement. This in turn also helps to understand the importance of an eco-friendly environment. This making for a win-win situation for the customer and the business.”

In Kimberly’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her interest in Classic Cars and HotRods, has allowed her to travel the countryside throughout the United States and has attended many car cruises. The music enthusiast in her, likes attending outdoor concerts in the summer. She also enjoys fishing, puzzles, and all kinds of arts & crafts.

Divert rain and surface water away to not flood the septic system. Do not plant trees on your drainfield so roots won't invade your septic system. And, avoid parking vehicles over the drainfield to prevent collapsing it. Do your part, be SepticSmart!
