DRAMATIC transformations!!!
What a privilege to have a job I truly LOVE!! Several weeks to make such a huge difference because the goal is always to equip the homeowner with tools to avoid getting back into the same situation. Which means NOT just shuffling stuff around the house, but deciding what to keep, sell, donate, or throw away.

This client was beginning a new job working from home and literally needed to dig out a catch-all room that would become her office. Which also meant clearing out a large storage room (not pictured) in order to have somewhere for items to go. It meant van loads of items donated - I lost count but easily 6/8. Two car loads I took to the dump. She persevered through such a mental and physical load and the result is breathtaking!!!

She kept telling me this was not the way she ever wanted her house to look, but life circumstances had led to overwhelm and then not knowing where to start. We tackled her dining room and living room - even moving most of the furniture to clean and truly give her a "fresh start"!!! We also got a bedroom back under control so a family member can stay for a week soon.

The BEST part??? And what I have been relishing all day today?? She texted me last night to tell me she was tackling a very daunting laundry situation...meeting goals to get it under control, more donations - and a written plan for the next month!! She found the MOTIVATION she needed by having multiple rooms that were calm and under control. With her family's help, they are up for the challenge to finish the rest of the house!

My goal is always to work myself out of a job, literally. To give people the help and tools they need to take control of their lives. I could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication I have seen here. Their joy brings me joy!!!

YES - I'M STILL HERE!!!!!

I realize I go long stretches between posts, but I have been busy with several projects over the last few months! Most of the work I have done I don't have before and after pics, but around the holidays I was able to help several families clear out clutter and set up for family gatherings even cleared out part of an attic.

I did remember to take pics of a bedroom clean out that stretched over multiple days. At least 3 full carloads went to donation. I was able to clear the pathways on the floor, uncover the bed, and organize the entire closet in this bedroom to set the homeowner up for her online business. So much potential for a great selling platform and financial success!! I left the final touches of washing the bedding, etc and the homeowner posted a beautiful room ready for her son to stay for Christmas!!

Up next: I will post pics soon of a whole home unpacking!!

I'm so very thankful for the Lord's prompting and direction that has led me to three jobs that are incredibly fulfilling. Dog sitting, an eBay store, and home organization business is not what I ever expected- but exactly what I needed!

Began my first seasonal purge job today and so happy for the homeowner! She had a box of items for me to list on eBay, 3 bags of trash, and a trunk load of boxes to donate by the time we finished. We also organized a guest bedroom and I'll be returning to clean out another room for holiday guests, plus working on clearing out a lot from her attic. It's such a privilege to help people!

**I have several openings in the next 5 weeks if you find yourself in need of help decluttering before Christmas!

Surprise SORT IT OUT update!

Enjoy these before and after pics of a recent storage room clean out. This unfinished area of the house became a catch-all for items that aren't everyday essentials and just needed a little time and attention. Mostly lots taken to recycle and then what remained organized into categories.

I've had such a blessing over the last few months as business has picked up and is becoming more steady. I don't always get before/after pics but knowing I've given homeowners a much needed reprieve from frustrations is such a pleasure for me!!

While still sorting/organizing larger areas for people, and keeping my eBay shop hustling - I've added another option that has been requested by multiple people = a house reset!! Do you wish things like laundry, dishes, and everyday miscellaneous clutter (hello kitchen counters) would just take care of themselves? Feel behind constantly and just want a fresh start - a house reset? I've done several houses and it's been a game changer! I'm happy to tackle your laundry room, kitchen, etc and get it under control for you! I can come once and set you up for summer success or we can set you up for once a month, bi-weekly, whatever helps you most. Message me if you're interested!

Spring Cleaning Saturday this week! Wanted to share some strategies I use and reminders about items in your home that need attention just occasionally.

- Curtains. I LOVE being able to adjust the light at different times of day as well as the energy bill savings that curtains bring. But they are also dust magnets. At least once a year I take them down and run them on an air fluff cycle in the DRYER. I use dryer balls with a few drops of essential oil that help stir the material so dust is removed while freshening them. I promptly hang them back up after the cycle so they don't wrinkle.

- Baseboards need attention several times a year, more often if you have pets. I like to use a long handled duster and try to plan right before I vacuum so everything is picked up.

-Ceiling fans, light fixtures. While you have the long handled duster out - swipe it over fan blades and light fixtures. Don't forget bathroom sink lights, the tops of mirrors, door frames. Put that duster to work and cover as many hard to reach areas as possible.

-Vacuum. Take time to move furniture or use hose attachment on your vacuum to go behind and under large pieces. A VALUABLE resource I started using a few years ago is a robotic vacuum. It saves so much time and does a thorough cleaning each time I run it, so I have less to do on extensive cleaning days. These little powerhouse machines easily glide under furniture and take care of entire rooms while I'm doing other things. I took time on the front end and moved cords and other objects off the floor so there's nothing in the way when it runs. I waited for a great discount (think Black Friday) and then bought one that had good reviews. It's one of my favorite purchases ever!

There's nothing like that feeling after a deep clean in the home. Enjoy it!!

I recently shared a garage clean out with stunning before and after pictures. Today it's "the rest of the story"!

This homeowner already had a discard pile in the works on her back deck. We added to it the rest of the week (first two pics) and she shared a contact for a local company that hauls off junk. I'm thrilled to now offer this info to my customers along with the non-profit that will gladly pick up donations!

She had a number of things for me to list on eBay as well as some smaller donations. The other pics are what I brought back to my house and sorted between donate and sell. I took the donate to drop off and have the sellable items stored at my house ready to ship.

There are lots of moving parts in clearing the clutter in homes and it's such a joy to see drastic transformations and joy on homeowner faces! All these items were taking up valuable space that now is useful, functional, and brings calm to what was chaos. I love my job!

SORT IT OUT SATURDAY!!

My latest sort was a garage overhaul. This space had become a catch-all that simply got out of hand. The homeowner had an injury that required an unexpected long recovery and they were not physically able to tackle the project. After months of frustration looking at this area, she contacted me to help finish what she had planned to do herself last fall.

She already had a vision for the area and had ordered three sets of industrial shelving and had put together part of one set. I finished that build of 5 shelves, put together another tall unit and then we divided the last set into two smaller units to go along a specific wall. She had some empty bins and labels ready to go which made the organization part of the sort a breeze. As we sorted everything in the room, we discussed what categories would be stored in each area. At the end, a final shuffle grouped everything exactly where she wanted and we were careful to put the most used items at easy access points. Everything is clearly labeled so anything that is needed is easily found.

What a joy to see such a transformation and a homeowner who is breathing a sigh of relief and no longer frustrated!

This sort took 15 hours which included building the shelving units. We worked 4 days at 4 hours per day. In my experience, a 4 hour day is usually the limit for the homeowner mentally, physically, and emotionally. Decisions on what to keep, donate, trash, or sell are truly exhausting so I am sensitive to the need for a mental break during larger jobs.

**Next week I'll share what was removed and a special area that got new life.

Message me if I can help you gain control of areas of your home that have become unmanageable! Life's too short to live in constant frustration - and it's my passion to assist you in success. Estimates are always free!

Spring Cleaning - KITCHEN

-Remember to set the mood, play music, listen to podcast, etc. so work will go by quickly!

The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in your home. Spend some extra time tending to items that are easily overlooked in everyday cleanings.
-Check the bottom of your upper kitchen cabinets. It's easy for food to splatter under there, but you have to bend down to see it. Time to address anything lurking under there.
-How about on top of your upper cabinets? A damp, soapy rag will take care of any dust that has settled up there.
-When was the last time pot holders were washed?
-The fronts of refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven may need a little attention.
-Move everything on your kitchen counters and clean the entire surface as well as backsplash.
-Wipe down all the items you moved on the countertops. They may have dust/grime collecting on them.
-Cabinet door crevices, k***s, handles all need to be cleaned.
-Good time to wipe down the insides of the refrigerator, microwave - and plan a time to clean the oven.
-Look over your small appliances and see what needs cleaning on your air fryer, toaster oven, coffee pot, etc.
-Do you have an island? Stools or chairs in the kitchen? Clean off the chair legs, island sides, spot clean any of the seating.

Sorting tip: All the things you moved on the counters to clean - decide if you want to keep it all out. Is it taking up valuable counter space that could be used when cooking? Do you use it daily/very often? Could you store it somewhere else to avoid dust collecting if not used frequently? Do you love these items being out or is it just habit to have them in that location?
*If you have items in your everyday living space that you no longer want or need - time to donate and free up your space!!

SPRING CLEANING!!

Do you dread this chore? Sure, it takes time to deep clean - but remind yourself of how GREAT it feels when you're done! Whether you tackle everything in a weekend or spread it out over several weeks, let's get to it! I'll lay out a simple plan if you need helping knowing where to start.

Set yourself up for success: Make the atmosphere as fulfilling as possible!
-listen to a podcast
-open the windows for fresh air
-play music that makes you happy
-have an attitude of gratitude - be thankful for each item/area you clean.

Today's focus: FILTERS/VENTS
We're starting here because these items are important to the function of equipment and are easily overlooked.
- Dryer vent. I mentioned this last fall. Time to check and clean out again if you haven't already. I clean out the vent inside the machine (under the filter you clean with each load) as well as the outside vent. This can be a fire hazard if not maintained.
-Heating/Air filter. These should be changed at least twice a year. If you have pets or the system runs constantly, then change every 2-3 months.
- Stove vent. When is the last time you looked up and saw what collects above your stove? There are a lot of different styles and ways to clean. Our current vent is a new model, easy to remove and clean with soapy water. In our former home I admit I may have only cleaned it every 6 or 8 years because I simply never thought about it. It was a screen type and it was absolutely saturated with grime. I will leave a link in the comments for an easy way to clean - it worked like a charm for me!
- Vacuum cleaner filter and roller brush. Before you deep clean, make sure your vacuum is running in top performance. Clean or replace the filter. Turn the machine over and clean out the roller brush that is easily loaded with debris from use. I have a robot vacuum and it's a little work horse, but needs maintenance too!
- Check anything else in your house that has a filter. We have air purifiers, they need periodic cleaning. Portable heaters or fans - check the vents in the back where air pulls through and clear of any dust. Bathroom vent fans may need wiping down.

**Sorting tip: As you're looking at vacuums, portable heaters, etc - take stock of what you have. Do you have multiple and don't use them? Are they broken? Great time to donate or trash!
