Cottonwood season is in full swing and summer heat hasn't fully arrived yet — which makes right now a genuinely good time to get your windows cleaned if you've been meaning to.

The spring film is still fresh and easier to remove before the heat locks it in. Interior, exterior, screens. Most homes take a couple hours and you don't need to be there if we are doing exterior only!

The red and white stripe 1992 Ford F250 has been part of Me and My Truck since before I owned it. Steve drove it. We drove it. It's been around the Palouse for a long time.

We're upgrading the fleet, which means the '92 is ready for its next chapter. Still starts every time. Western straight plow with wings included. Perfect for a private property or someone just getting a small operation off the ground.

Cottonwood season is doing its thing out there right now. You've probably noticed.

What most people don't think about is the film it leaves behind on glass and screens — not as obvious as the fluff, but it's there. Once summer heat bakes it in, it's a harder job to clean.

Have you gotten to your windows yet this spring? Or are you waiting until after the fluff is gone?

This one came off a north-facing section of a house. That side doesn't get much direct sun, so it stays damp longer — and whatever lands on it tends to stay put.

Before and after are basically two different windows. Same house, same week, just one of them had us on it.

Does your house have a side that always seems to look worse than the rest, no matter the time of year?

A lot of people figure their gutters are fine because they got cleaned last fall. But fall cleaning and spring gutters are two different problems. April on the Palouse doesn't rinse things out — it soaks whatever was already in there and packs it down.

Pull a handful out of a gutter right now and it's not leaves anymore. It's a mat. Elm seeds, locust pods, Palouse grit, and about six months of rain all compressed together. That stuff doesn't move on its own, and it doesn't flush out with a garden hose.

When's the last time you actually had yours checked — fall, or longer ago than you want to say out loud?

Cottonwood season is here. That fluff looks harmless floating around — until it parks itself in your window screens.

Once it's packed in, it smears instead of wiping off and turns a straightforward job into a whole project. We see it every May like clockwork.

A few weeks ago I said we'd introduce you to James.

Well, he left Me and My Truck at the end of March to work for Forged Construction. You see... James is a skilled carpenter and handyman. His skillset is worth way more in the construction world than what we do here - we haul and clean stuff, he builds stuff - and he's got a family to support. We're happy for him.

Before his last day, Abe, James, and I went to Neat Whiskey Bar in Moscow to celebrate. We dressed up in sport coats, MAMT bought the first round, (we only had 2,) and enjoyed conversation without work in front of us. Turns out Abe and James are good dudes outside of work also! 😂

We still see him around since he's a friend, but we miss working with him. Mostly because now when something breaks, Abe and I just stare at it and hope it fixes itself. So far that strategy has a 0% success rate. 🤷‍♂️
