Short Story
Sweeping Atlanta Cleaning was founded in 1996 by my mother. My mother eventually went into the medical field and stopped cleaning altogether.
The business was revamped in 2017 by me (Jamil Clark). I always loved cleaning and was doing it at an early age in life. When I was in middle school, I use to clean for the elderly in my apartments for $25. I mostly did the kitchen, bathroom and took out trash at that time. It grew so fast that when I got off the bus one day, I had four ladies waiting on me to ask if I could help them.
Fast forward, I grew older and eventually got a job working for a big retail company in 2012. In 2016 I lost that job and struggled to pay my bills, so I went from job to job searching for a passion in something. One day, I was on the phone with my mom, and I asked her “Mom what do you think I’m good at doing?” she replied, “You really good at cleaning!” So, I started researching how to start a cleaning service and what I needed. My mom looks up her old business name to see if she still owned the domain.
She repurchased the name and I ran with it. I started posting on Facebook every day and in Airbnb groups. I eventually got a break where someone asked me to clean there Airbnb and I was so excited. I went to my first cleaning not knowing that I would be getting referrals left and right. I had learned so much and was in love with what I was doing. I’ve cleaned so many places today from Airbnb, residential and commercial. My business is based out of Atlanta, Georgia and has now expanded to Alabama.
Today I reflect on how far I've came and reflect on the outpour of support you guys have given me. My clients have become my family, I've trained other woman to become successful cleaning business owners and given back free cleanings to my community. Nothing wouldn't be possible without God and my Sweeper family. Thank you, guys, so much!
