What customers THINK we mean by "cutting" the paint... 🤔🔪 If Michael Myers Was A Detailer

Car detailing can be a real grind no matter how you slice it 🤣. especially when you’re out working alone in the cold during the month of October, but lately, it feels like someone is always watching the work. Short Halloween Series Dropping. 🔪🎃

All too often, chemical manufacturers repackage the same formulas to sell you a different bottle for every single problem on your car—it’s pure capitalism. Today, I'm breaking down why a top-tier company like Optimum Polymer Technologies doesn't even make a dedicated bug remover, and how I create a professional-grade bug-melting cocktail by mixing Optimum Power Clean with Adam’s Polishes Mega Foam.

By combining the intense organic breakdown power of an APC with the ultra-slick lubrication of thick car wash suds, you can safely glide a bug waffle pad across your clear coat without scratching the paint or stripping your protection.

We often get clients who think detailers have a magic wand that can reverse years of extreme wear and tear like an auto upholstery shop. But the reality is much tougher—especially when dealing with delicate, degraded materials!

This wasn’t just everyday dirtt. It was completely caked in years of thick dirt, heavy makeup, and what felt like hardened chewing gum. The real challenge? The underlying material was already severely cracked. If we used standard high-pressure steam or intense scrubbing, we risked completely pulling out and destroying the broken pieces. To tackle this without causing further damage, we had to think outside the box. Standard interior cleaners and degreasers wouldn’t budge the grime, so we resorted to a few "unconventional" products not typically meant for car interiors to safely dissolve the buildup while keeping the fragile handle intact.Detailing isn't just about cleaning; it’s about understanding chemistry, material limits, and knowing exactly when to pivot to get the absolute best results possible.

🤫 Why Cash Flexing Is Destroying The Detailing Industry

The car detailing industry is facing a massive identity crisis, and it's time someone said it out loud.

Every time you scroll on social media, you see them: the "Daddy Yankee" lookalikes flexing fans of hundred-dollar bills, boasting about $1,000 days, or gurus like Alan Turnsabaev telling you to buy a "blueprint" to make $50k a month by tomorrow.

This culture is killing our industry. It's fueling massive over-saturation with people who only care about a quick dollar, not the actual craft. When the focus shifts from paint correction mastery to "cash flexing," it destroys the integrity of the profession and makes honest, hardworking detailers look bad.

In this video, I’m breaking down the dangerous reality of these posts and sharing my actual journey—from being a teenager washing cars in the back of a BMW dealership learning from the ground up, to building a sustainable business fueled by genuine passion.

WHEN OTHER DETAILERS COPY YOUR POST USING AI

I put up a post from my business page a month or 2 ago in regards to carpet lines and how detailers were spending too much time. I joke about these things but what many detailers don't understand is that when you make these carpet lines and put your logo in a customers carpet. Over time it becomes almost permanent. You can try to remove it all you want down the road but it will still be faintly visible in the customers carpet.

However while i do respect everyone in this forum and it's ok to SHARE my content provided you give me credit. Out of respect for the rules, i had to remove my logo to avoid self promotion. One thing i hate is someone trying to replicate my content and post and trying to make it their own as if it was original.

The first photo is my original photo. The photo originally was taken in the back of an X5 trunk and i cleaned the carpet in one direction before taking the photo. I then used photoshop to place a mona lisa painting in the carpet area and i used the background remover tool to cut out that trunk handle and replace it by brining it in front of the mona lisa photo. I then made the photo black and white and then decreased the transparency and added a carpet texture to blend with the existing carpet fibers. Unfortunately you had this person try to use ai and couldn't get the s**t right and instead of coming out with mona lisa- Ai gave him Mickey rourke. All im saying is be original. Some of yall even steal other detailers paint correction before and after and then post it like you did the work. Yall can do better.

STOP STALLING ON CURVES

We see it all the time on detailing channels where someone does a paint correction but it is always showed on flat panels. Now before anybody tries to be a know it all- hear me out! I could easily switch the tool to a 3inch and call it a day but when it comes to concave panels you don't always have to swap out the tool.
Many beginners and some experienced fall short in these areas and switch to the 3inch and perform a move known as the barrell roll but you can achieve the same results just by adjusting your technique on the 5inch and doing a slight tilt. This tricks the polisher's balance and counteracts the stall by shifting the pressure point.
When a DA polisher stalls on a concave panel, it happens because the flat pad loses even contact with the curved surface. Tis creates uneven friction, and the machine's safety balance mechanism halts the free rotation of the pad. By slightly tilting the machine, i am deliberately concentrating the downward force onto a smaller pivot point. This allows the polisher's counterweight balance to keep spinning freely
THE MYTH #1: Many detailers think they need to press harder or switch to a smaller machine immediately.

MYTH #2: If the pad isn't spinniing, it isn't cutting or polishing at all

MYTH #3: You should turn the machine down to 1 or 2 on tight curves for safety.

THE BIRD BOMB- The Ultimate Disrespect

When one door closes another door opens. This is how much other detailers hate me when i create a topic that spirals into viral territory to the point they ban me from a community. Hate is my fuel to be better and create more content that hits that funny bone.

Let's be honest. There are so many videos of a maintenance details that can last a lifetime. So many of you asked to keep it coming with content that gives a few good laughs while still keeping the car detailing elements. Enjoy and leave your haha comments down below.
