A virgin queen’s first mating flight is one of the most important moments in the entire hive.

Before she can lead a colony, she leaves the hive to mate midair with drones from other colonies—sometimes traveling surprising distances before returning home as the future queen of the hive.

One flight can shape the future of thousands of bees.

Thank for the video.

“Growth continues when preparation meets persistence. Just like bees entering a new month already in motion, real progress comes from the work you kept doing even before results became visible.”

The first week of June marks a transition into a more active season. In the hive, this is not the time to slow down—it’s the time when preparation, teamwork, and consistency begin producing visible results. Every flight, every task, and every small contribution builds toward something larger. This week is about trusting the process, staying disciplined, and continuing forward with purpose even when growth is still unfolding.

The queen bee doesn’t just rule the hive—she communicates with it.
One of the most fascinating sounds in a colony is called “tooting,” a vibration-based signal made by a queen bee. It can signal competition between queens, emerging queens inside their cells, or shifts happening within the hive itself.

Even inside the darkness of the hive, communication never stops.

Thank for the video.

A queenless hive behaves very differently than most people expect.

In a video shared by , a colony gathered beneath a beach umbrella remained surprisingly calm because they had no hive, brood, honey, or resources to defend. Without something to protect, bees are often far less defensive.

She then introduced a new queen to the colony using a queen cage. One of the key signs of acceptance is whether the bees chew through the candy plug at the end of the cage to release her naturally. If they reject the queen, they may try to kill her instead.

Even inside the hive, communication and survival depend on whether the colony accepts its queen.

Thank for the video.

“Never throughout history has a man who lived a life of ease left a name worth remembering.” — Theodore Roosevelt

In every hive, there is constant work, sacrifice, and purpose behind what the world eventually sees. Bees survive and thrive because every member contributes, protects, and carries responsibility for something greater than itself.

This Memorial Day, The Bee Man honors those whose courage, sacrifice, and service continue to leave a lasting impact long after they are gone.

Why do bee removers avoid dark colors?

It’s not just preference—it’s strategy.

In nature, many hive threats are dark-colored, so bees are wired to react defensively. They also tend to target darker areas and high-contrast spots, making dark clothing a higher risk during removal. Add in heat absorption, and it can increase agitation even more.

Light colors help reduce that reaction, making the process safer for both the bees and the remover.

“Momentum becomes strength when consistency meets adaptability. Just like bees adjusting to changing conditions while staying committed to the hive, real growth comes from staying steady while learning to pivot when needed.”

By the third week of May, progress isn’t just about doing the work—it’s about responding to what the work demands. In the hive, no day is exactly the same, yet every bee continues with purpose, adjusting without losing direction. This week is about staying consistent, being aware of what needs to shift, and continuing forward without losing momentum.
