How do I prevent getting allergies or reducing attacks?
You may be a lucky one who has never experienced allergies which can be like a full blown cold. Regardless anyone can get them at any time. It really amounts to when your immune system decides something is a threat. Regardless whatever triggers it, there are simple things you can do.
Washing your hair can get rid of dander or pollen that can easily attract to your hair. Washing your hair will remove those particles which in turn transfer onto your pillow case. Just make sure the shampoo you use isn't full of perfume that bothers you. If you smell your shampoo and it makes you sneeze, find something else.
Changing a pillow case can alleviate conditions for many. It is not always convenient, but worth the extra effort if you want to wake up in the morning and not have your head feel all stuffed up. If you have a pillow that you can wash that can be a huge difference for an allergy sufferer. Freezing a pillow or fuzzy toy can also kill problematic allergen causing issues provided you have a freezer with enough room. If your cat or dog is sneezing all the time a good vacuum or washing or freezing their fave toy can help them even if you are not currently having an issue. Hot water wash is best.
Finally a vacuum cleaner with a sealed system. A hepa filter system without a sealed system to contain it will do little to prevent filling the air with particles removed from your carpet.
A thorough carpet cleaning every 12 to 18 months at least in rooms that are used often can not only dramatically extend your carpet life, but prevent and alleviate conditions of allergy sufferers tremendously. A client was telling me how much cheaper it is to clean the carpets annually than provide medication for 4 allergy sufferers in the house. ;)
Regardless any or all of these things if feasible for you can make a big difference. Best Wishes!
