State Farm gimmicks of the week, this week.

1. Told one customer they couldn’t find me in the system. Told them to go and get estimate done at their preferred shop. Customer bucked til magically found me.
2. Told customer that since the car was a lease that it had to go to Laverys to get estimated and repaired. It was a Honda, why would you require it to go to a GM dealership? Ah wait because it was a preferred service 1st shop 😡

Car owners by law you have the right to choose your repair shop.

I had a customer who was sent to a preferred shop. They had their car for over a month and a half. Claimed there was “no parts” available. 🙄 I haven’t had a car for over a month in years.

I would just like to put out a post on insurance company tactics. When you call and make a claim and they ask you if you chosen a shop and you choose one that is not on that companies "preferred" shop list. That even if the shop you want to go to is not on that list, you still have the right by law to use the shop that you want. They will then use tactics to steer you to the shop they want you to go to. They will tactics to steer you that way. Such as "Well if you go to that shop they will not warranty your work'. Another is "The labor rate is more there so you will have to pay the difference on the rate". In my case and I am sure with most private shops this is a lie. I always have and will warranty my work as long as you have the car above and beyond any insurance warranty. Recent companies that use this tactic this week even has been State Farm, Grange and Progressive. I am going to high light insurance companies in upcoming posts as far as my experience I have had with them.

Hello. I am back to doing repair work on a part time basis. Estimates will be by appointment only at this time. Will do work for insurance companies. Please when filing a claim follow your companies guidelines as they are all different. You always have the right to the shop of your choice by the law. I’ll be sticking to light to moderate damages. Will NOT be doing work for Liberty Mutual, Geico, or the General. If I do not answer the phone leave a message.

State Farm lie of the week. They told customer if I cannot get to the car in a couple weeks I would charge storage for it sitting in my lot at $60 a day that they (the customer) would have to pay me personally when I got the car done. That the shop they send them to will not do that. Total lie! If I’m doing the job there is no such fees and never had been. Typical Snake Farm scare tactic.

If any of my customers that have State Farm insurance has been told that they must use a State Farm service 1st shop instead of myself or a shop of your choice please contact me with the info.

By law you are allowed to use the shop of your choice. They use fancy words and promises of warranties as long as you own your vehicle. Really all they are doing is using those shops to save themselves money long term. Also as of this past February they approved writing aftermarket parts in the state of Ohio. Probably didn’t drop your rates only increased them.
