Long post/update ahead: ๐งน
I haven't posted on here in a while and since some people were concerned/had questions, I wanted to make an updated post! I first want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as truthfully the last year and a half have been a bit of a whirlwind, trying to find my way with this business. ๐
I have had several different helpers work alongside me, all in which provided great learning experiences however I have done a lot of reflection over the past few months and realized that I truly enjoy being a solo cleaner~ This business is my passion, something I built from scratch, and it means everything to me. My top priorities are, and have always been, providing consistency and quality work to my customers, which I am able to carry out when I'm the one physically cleaning each time! I have a high standard for my work and a passion to help take stress off people's lives through cleaning!
For a long time I thought there was something wrong with being a solo cleaner~ Whether it was comments I saw online or overheard in person, there was always a narrative I heard that "the bigger the better" with my company. That I should be striving to expand with employees and that if that's not happening, I'm somehow failing or not as legitimate as a bigger company. โจ
I finally have peace in my choice to be a primarily solo cleaner!~ (with occasional help on bigger projects). I'm able to build connections and trust with my customers, and provide the quality work that they deserve on my terms. ๐งฝ
That being said, there are pros and cons to everything. A "downside" to being such a small company is not having nearly as much availability as bigger companies with multiple teams and employees. Although I want to be able to serve as many people in the community as possible, as a mainly solo cleaner I have had more limited availability and I genuinely appreciate everyone's understanding and patience for not having immediate openings and having to be added to wait-lists at times.
If I do try to expand again in the future, I have alot more insight what I'd do differently, so there's lessons in everything~ even if things don't go as planned! For now I am blessed to be at the spot I'm at with wonderful, loyal customers that value my work and future ones to come! ๐ And if you're also a solo cleaner or small business, remember there's nothing "small" about getting paid to do what you love and being your own boss! ๐ฅฐ ๐๐ผ๐งน
