Just a reminder! NOW is the proper time to have your chimney's cleaned. As soon as you are done burning for the winter you should have your chimney serviced for a few reasons
-It will reduce/eliminate the risk of unwanted odors in your home during the warmer months.
-Letting the soot sit for months while the chimney is not being used can lead to a stubborn buildup that may need additional work to properly clean
-Beat the winter rush! Once it starts getting cold again, it is not uncommon for me to be booked out weeks, sometimes months for a cleaning. By cleaning now, as soon as it gets cold again you'll be ready to burn with out having to wait.
-If additional work is needed on the chimney, you'll have months to plan the repairs, rather than needing them asap or missing out on burning time in the cold weather.

Obviously with a snow storm of this size it may delay my business for a day or two and may even have to postpone some jobs longer where we need to get on the roof etc. But if you do have an appointment and we have confirmed we are coming to you, it is very important that you have your driveways and walkways shoveled and clear of any ice. My work vans are rear wheel drive and cannot get up/down hilly driveways, I have to walk into and out of your house multiple times with heavy tools in my hand etc. I don't want to fall and break bones because a path was not cleared! Hope everyone is staying warm, good luck for the rest of the storm!

Just a friendly reminder, there is a 100% chance that burning wet, unseasoned, or not fully seasoned firewood is doing some sort of damage or creating a fire risk in your chimney. There is no substitute for burning dry wood. It is either fully/properly seasoned, or it is not. Unless you're baking the wood in a kiln (Kiln dried firewood is baked in a huge oven for 24-48 hours at 150+ degrees) there is no way to "speed up" the seasoning process. In the north east, in good conditions it takes wood 12-18 months to season AFTER being split. Keeping the wood in the garage or in the house for a few weeks is NOT seasoning it quicker/or enough! 95% of the chimney fires I go to are caused completely by people burning unseasoned wood. On my pages there are videos showing how to test the moisture content of your firewood. Don't have a chimney fire because you're burning bad wood. There are over 20,000 chimney fires a year in the U.S. it is a very real danger!

Just a quick reminder to all my customers (past, present, and future) if this storm is going to be as windy and as rainy as predicted, it is not unusual to get a small amount of water in your chimney. It is near impossible to keep every drop of water out of your chimney with "sideways" rain. With that said, if you experience a lot of water getting in your chimney with a storm like this, than you likely have an issue needing repair. Another very common issue which causes countless leaks, is water puddling at the base of your chimney. Try to route gutters away from the foundation, and make the grade or pitch of the yard enough where water will shed away from your home. As always if you do need our help, please feel free to message/call etc.

Just a reminder for all our customers (past present and future)! Starting September 1st 2025 we will be increasing our pricing for regular chimney cleanings / maintenance. As I've stated before, the reason for the increase is as the weather gets colder we get 100's of trouble calls, emergency service calls, and install jobs. Obviously during the colder months these calls need to take priority over regular chimney cleanings which could and SHOULD be done in the spring or summer. While our prices are still VERY competitive for the type and quality of service we offer, this is an effort to get customers to do their annual cleaning in the slower months so we can get to the service calls in a timely fashion for our customers. As always, your business is greatly appreciated! I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer!

Current pricing:
-Regular inspection $49.99
-Insurance, Real estate, Code compliance etc. starting at $99.99
-Fireplace, oil boiler, gas boiler, hot water heater chimney cleaning $99.99
-Wood stove, Wood stove insert chimney cleaning $159.99

New pricing as of September 1st:
-Regular inspection $74.99
-Insurance, Real estate, Code compliance etc. starting at $199.99
-Fireplace, oil boiler, gas boiler, hot water heater chimney cleaning $159.99
-Wood stove, Wood stove insert chimney cleaning $179.99

If you have an old chimney thats falling off your house, one you’re tired of putting tons of money into, tired of chasing leaks, tired of the old dated look, or looking to build a complete new chimney, this is what that process looks like. It’s a great way to remove thousands of pounds from hanging off the side of your house, and update the look of your home. This is also the same process used if you wanted to add a brand new wood stove to a home that does not have a chimney to vent into.

Just a friendly reminder to all our customers and friends, NOW is the time of year when you should be getting your firewood for NEXT year. As you all know it’s become increasingly hard to find good seasoned wood. Firewood takes at least 12-18 months to season properly. NOW is also the best time to have your chimneys cleaned. It’s best to have them cleaned as soon as you are done burning for the season. Why?
- It removes all the buildup and soot, so on those hot/humid summer days your home does not smell like a musty campfire
- It avoids a long wait time for an appointment in the colder months, so you chimney is safe and ready to use on that first cold day (in the busy season we are scheduled out as far a 6 weeks)
- It is CHEAPER to do it now. Next busy season (starting in September) I will be raising my prices for maintenance (chimney cleanings). The reason for this is that in the colder months we are very busy with repairs, installs, and service calls and I will be making those calls my priority in the colder months. So get your annual maintenance done now and save!

One thing you can do to improve the look of your home is to add a custom chimney cap at the top of your chimney. Not only do they add a nice layer of detail to your home, but since these custom caps cover the entire top of your chimney, it is a great upgrade to keep wind driven rain out of your chimney while keeping the top of the chimney dry and out of the elements. Here are a couple photos from earlier today of a custom cap I built. I will update this post with some more photos when I install this bad boy later this week.

Just wanted to bring up something I've been seeing a lot of lately. **CHIMNEY LINERS** In the last few years some of the larger boiler companies have established relationships with specific chimney companies, and will tell you that you need to, or strongly recommend their chimney company comes to your house because the chimney lining doesn't look good. In some cases that may be true and you may need a lining system, and some times you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT NEED A LINER, but these chimney companies give large kick backs ($$$) to the boiler company for telling the customer they need a liner. If this happens to you, by all means get an estimate, but please feel free to call me as I will give you an honest fair assessment of your chimney lining, and can almost ALWAYS beat the other companies prices if a lining system is needed, since I am not giving out any $ for kick backs. As always, feel free to call or message me if you have any questions or concerns.
