Just because it disappears when you flush it doesn't mean it's gone.

Your septic system is designed to break down human waste and toilet paper. Everything else has the potential to create problems.

Items like "flushable" wipes, paper towels, cotton balls, feminine hygiene products, grease, and harsh chemicals don't break down the way many people think they do. Over time, they can:

• Fill your septic tank faster
• Clog inlet and outlet pipes
• Damage pumps and components
• Disrupt the beneficial bacteria your system depends on
• Increase the likelihood of expensive repairs

Even products labeled "septic safe" should not be flushed. "Septic safe" doesn't necessarily mean they break down quickly enough to protect your system over the long term.

The best rule of thumb is simple:

If it isn't human waste or toilet tissue, don't flush it.

🌳 **Tree roots don't just damage sewer lines... they can destroy an entire septic system.**

Most homeowners don't realize there's a big difference between **roots in your septic tank** and **roots in your drainfield**.

Roots that make their way into the septic tank can often be removed during routine maintenance.

But once roots invade the drainfield, it's a different story.

Every property only has so much suitable space for a drainfield. If that area has already been used or becomes unsuitable, replacing it may require an engineered or specialty septic system that can cost **two to three times more** than a conventional installation.
