It's time to start preparing oneself - the 1788 overpass at I-20 is planned for demolition SOON

TXDOT has a brochure put out now showing a timeline for Fall 2026 as a target for the demolition of the 1788 overpass. The project is expected to take 12-14 months to complete new main-lane overpasses that will instead go over 1788.

Detours will be in place for anyone needing to cross I-20. These detours will pass under the new overpasses that are being finished at CR 1300 (2 miles west) and CR 1260 (2 miles east).

Time to start preparing yourself for the headaches. Traffic will be a nightmare.
