Soft drink stains must be treated as soon as possible.Here's what to do:

Despite the snow, our 24 hour coin-op laundry services at 2601 Ohio St in Michigan City and 300 W Buffalo St, New Buffalo are open! However, due to the winter storm today (Wednesday, February 2, 2022), our stores at 1514 E Michigan Blvd, Michigan City and the dry cleaner in Chesterton are closed during the storm. [Laundry Tip] When bits of cooked pork or bacon fall on your clothes, first blot any stains with a plain white paper towel, napkin, or white bread to absorb as much oil as possible.

Sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder on the stain and then before washing, treat the stain with a dab of liquid detergent. Rub the fabric together with your fingers and then toss the garment in the wash after about 15 minutes. Wash as recommended on the care label using the hottest water suggested.

Have a party but not enough time to get to the dry cleaner? Try putting that sheer voile blouse, beaded top, fringed silk shawl, or lace trimmed dress in a cotton pillow case, knot it closed, and wash in cold water on regular cycle. Beads, sequins, buttons and delicate laces should not fall to pieces, and garments can be restored by steam ironing or steaming in the shower!
