Pond Maintenance Monday- When the heat spikes, hold back the food!

It’s tempting to feed your Koi and other fish when they swim up to greet you, but digesting food requires a lot of oxygen. On extreme heat, when dissolved oxygen is naturally lower, heavy afternoon feedings can cause stress for your fish!

Pro-Tips for July Feeding:
1. Feed early in the morning when water temperatures are at their lowest.

2. Only give them what they can finish in under 2 minutes.

3. Skip feedings entirely during peak afternoon heat waves.
