Before the costumes come out this weekend, do a 60-second check.
Borrowed, rented, thrifted, or handed-down costumes have spent time in other closets, cars, and homes. Bed bugs are hitchhikers, not a sign of a dirty home.
60-second routine:
1. Turn the costume inside out.
2. Use a flashlight along seams, hems, collars, and cuffs.
3. Check the garment bag, backpack, or treat bag it arrived in.
If the costume is dryer-safe, tumble it on high heat for 30 minutes before wearing. Always follow the care label. Never guess.
If you find something:
Seal the costume and bags in a plastic bag.
Do not move them to another bedroom or home.
Do not spray store-bought products.
Call for a professional K9 inspection.
MYTH: Door-to-door trick-or-treating and individually wrapped candy do not spread bed bugs. Bed bugs hitchhike on belongings.
Certified K9 teams can confirm quickly and discreetly. Treatment is only recommended when bed bugs are actually confirmed.
5-star customer feedback: “The best professional service I have ever received. Highly recommend this company.”
