Many chemotherapy medications are designed to destroy rapidly dividing cells. Unfortunately, these powerful drugs also disrupt the beneficial bacteria that septic systems rely on to function properly.
When bacteria are negatively affected, septic systems do not break down waste as efficiently. During treatment, this means more frequent septic pumping is needed to help prevent damage or costly system failures.
The reality is that most families are never told this.
Thatโs why Pumps for Patients exists.
Our nonprofit works to raise awareness about this often-overlooked issue while supporting families who rely on septic systems during cancer treatment.
Through our network of septic professionals across the country, Pumps for Patients coordinates septic pumping services at no cost to qualifying patients whenever possible. Our program is donation-funded, and those donations go directly toward providing pumping services for vetted applicants who need assistance.
Our goal is simple: remove a financial burden from families already facing so much.
If you or someone you know is undergoing chemotherapy and lives in a home with a septic system, we encourage you to learn more.
And if you're a septic professional who wants to support patients in your community, we would love to connect with you.
Together, we can help ensure families facing cancer donโt have to face septic system problems too.
