It’s gopher/mole season!
A single pocket gopher can move over 1 to 4 tons of soil to the surface annually, creating up to 300 soil mounds per year while foraging. They can dig at a rate of 3 to 4 feet per hour, often creating 200 yards of tunnels. Moles can dig up to 18 feet per hour, creating 150 feet of new tunnels daily.
Pictured at this particular Customer’s residence are moles.
Moles, dig a vertical tunnel to get rid of the dirt there excavating for their tunnel system. It’s called a conical mound.
Looks like a volcano of dirt erupted out of the ground.
Gophers look a little different pictures to follow at a later date.
Gopher mounds look like a horseshoe shape of mounds with a plug in the middle. They plug the hole they don’t like the light.
They also have different food sources. Moles are carnivorous eating mostly worms and bugs. Gophers are not! They eat mostly seeds and roots.
They are also migratory. Meaning once a food source is depleted they’ll migrate to better hunting grounds.
These little suckers can move dirt and a lot of it! When left to their own device and not controlled they will create a lot of damage on your beautifully landscape yards!
Rogue Valley Extermination and Pest Control has an excellent baiting program that knocks them right out!
We also have a ground squirrel service!

It’s box elder bug season!
Box elder bugs are what we call in the industry, a nuisance pest.
Aren’t all pests nuisances?
Of course!
What I mean is these things don’t sting they don’t bite. They don’t really cause damage to any structure. Maybe stain things up if you smash them.
They’re just super creepy and all over the place sometimes.
Like I said a nuisance!
How are these things controlled? You might ask.
These things are controlled by treating the structure that is affected very carefully. It’s very important to put the product being sprayed in the right spot!
Exclusion is also important. You might be asking how do these things get inside?
Typically, it’s through gaps and cracks in your window.
Screens don’t sit in the track of a window perfectly.
Old windows are super suspect!
Pictured are some boxholder on a home in Eagle Point. It’s and older home. Also pictures of the windows. Lots of gaps.
Typically, what’s affecting structures are adjacent trees.
If you have trees on your property that are adjacent and affecting your home.
Treating a tree that is loaded with box elders could essentially eliminate the entire problem.
Rogue Valley Extermination and Pest Control are experts and have proven methods that can eliminate box elders pretty much all summer.
Our service vehicles are equipped with a 50 gallon power sprayer that can go up to 600 psi if needed!
So if you’ve got an affected tree that needs to be treated.

Rodents in this valley are probably the most prolific four legged pest we deal with!
They work at damaging your property by chewing and leaving urine and droppings everywhere.

Fun fact – Rodents don’t have control of their bowels!

They’re also always hard at work at making more rodents.
Here are before, and after pictures of entry points and exclusion repairs.
Trapping along with an inspection to detail entry points is crucial in the process of eliminating rodents from a structure, whether it be at home or business.
