🧼 Cleaning Tip Tuesday

Have you cleaned your garbage disposal, but it still smells? 🤢

Before you assume it’s the disposal itself, check the black rubber splash guard (the rubber piece with the flaps).

Food, grease, and grime love to hide underneath it, and that’s often the real source of the odor!

✨ Pull the flaps back and wipe underneath with a sponge or cloth and a little Dawn dish soap.
✨ On some garbage disposals, the rubber splash guard can even be removed for a more thorough cleaning- just make sure it’s reinstalled properly before using the disposal again.

It’s one of those spots that’s easy to forget, but it can make a HUGE difference in keeping your kitchen smelling fresh! 🩷

Wednesday I had the pleasure of cleaning for a wonderful new client, and these are the kinds of transformations that make me love what I do. 💕

The front of the dishwasher cleaned up beautifully using nothing more than hot water and Dawn dish soap. Sometimes the simplest tricks really are the best ones!

Now… the inside of the oven? 🤐 That’s one of my trade secrets. Gotta keep a few things to myself so you all keep hiring me. 😜

🫧 WHAT IT DO WEDNESDAY 🫧

✨ This week’s product: Dawn Powerwash! ✨

If you’ve been around my page for a while, you know I’m all about products that make cleaning easier- and Dawn Powerwash has definitely earned a spot in my cleaning caddy!

🧼 What it do:
Dawn Powerwash is fantastic at breaking down grease, stuck-on food, and everyday grime. The spray formula clings to messes, giving it a chance to start working before you wipe, which means less scrubbing and more cleaning.

I especially love it for:
• Greasy stovetops
• Range hoods
• Kitchen sinks
• Garbage cans
• Sticky residue on washable surfaces
• Everyday kitchen messes

🚫 What it doesn’t do:
Dawn Powerwash is not a disinfectant, so while it does a great job cleaning away grease and dirt, it shouldn’t replace a disinfecting product when your goal is to kill germs.
It also isn’t a one-size-fits-all cleaner.

Avoid using it on:
• Marble or other natural stone surfaces
• Leather
• Unfinished or unsealed wood
• Unfinished or unsealed stone
• Waxed surfaces
• Any surface where the manufacturer recommends against dish soap

When you’re unsure, always check the manufacturer’s care instructions first!

💡 Pro Tip:
Less is more! Spray a light coat, let it sit for a minute or two on greasy messes, then wipe. Giving the product time to work often means you won’t have to scrub nearly as hard.

Don’t forget your dishwasher filter!

A lot of people don’t realize their dishwasher has a removable filter that should be cleaned regularly. When it’s clogged with food particles and grease, you may notice:
• Dishes coming out dirty
• Strange odors
• Standing water at the bottom
• Reduced cleaning performance

💡 Simply remove the filter (check your owner’s manual if you’re unsure), rinse it with warm water, and gently scrub away any buildup with a soft brush.

One simple thing you can do to help keep your home feeling comfortable is check your HVAC filter. If it’s dirty, replace it! A clean filter helps your system move air more efficiently, improves your indoor air quality, and helps reduce the amount of dust circulating throughout your home- meaning less dust settling on your furniture and surfaces! ✨

💡 Pro Tip: Most filters should be checked monthly and replaced every 1–3 months, depending on the type of filter, whether you have pets, and how often your system runs.

Each Wednesday, I’ll be featuring a cleaning product from my cleaning caddy and breaking down exactly what it does, where I use it, and what surfaces you should avoid. Think of it as a little product knowledge from a professional cleaner! 😉

🧽 This week’s product: Bar Keepers Friend

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you’ve probably heard me talk about this stuff before. It has definitely earned a permanent spot in my cleaning caddy!

💥 What it do:
✔️ Removes hard water stains
✔️ Tackles rust stains
✔️ Brightens stainless steel sinks
✔️ Cleans glass stovetops
✔️ Helps remove soap scum
✔️ Makes dull surfaces shine again

🚫 What it doesn’t do:
❌ Belong on natural stone like granite or marble
❌ Belong on painted or soft surfaces (wood, leather, painted walls, or mirrors)
❌ Need to sit for long periods of time
❌ Magically clean your house while you watch Netflix (trust me, I’ve tried 😉)

💡 Pro Tip: A little goes a long way! Always test a small area first and avoid using it on delicate surfaces.

If you saw my range hood filter before-and-after the other day, here’s exactly how I got them looking so much better! 😍

I simply sprayed them down with Dawn Powerwash, let them sit for about 10–20 minutes, gave them a gentle scrub with a soft-bristled brush, and rinsed with hot water.

It’s a quick task that makes a huge difference since these filters collect grease and grime every time you cook.

Pro Tip: Aim to clean them every 1–3 months, depending on how often you cook!
