🐜🐜Invasive Species on the Rise! The Asian Needle Ant has been spreading rapidly throughout the Southeast, and has been spotted in the Eastern part of Arkansas. 🐜🐜
A few reason they are problematic:
1. They are less aggressive than the fire ant, but their sting packs a venomous punch. For certain people with allergies to stings, they have been known to trigger severe reactions like anaphylaxis.
2. Unlike fire ants that are rarely found foraging inside of a home, this species is happy to trail into your kitchen and have a sample of whats cooking.
3. Threats to our more docile ant species. The Needle Ant has been found to not only directly eat native ants, but consume their food, and even take over their nest sites.
I've attached some photos from Purdue to help identify them. If you need help with nuisance pests in your home or business, give us a call today at 501-734-9633
