A REMINDER & PSA to everyone, but MAINLY my fellow cleaners on here‼️

Running a cleaning business by myself means I'm often walking into homes where I've never met the homeowner before. Honestly, most people are absolutely wonderful, but every now and then, an inquiry comes along that gives me an uneasy feeling.

I've learned not to ignore those feelings. Maybe it's experience, maybe it's intuition, but either way, I've never regretted listening to my gut. I’ve heard horror stories about cleaners and other solo workers being taken advantage of in different ways, so I did my research on a phone number that’s been messaging me since Thursday. I’ve found multiple people claiming they’ve been scammed. The address given to me is in fact listed for sale, but not owned by anyone named Todd. Other things not shown also gave me all the red flags 🚩

A little reminder to anyone who works alone: your safety comes first. Always. No paycheck is worth it.

People see the hours we're physically working. What they don't see are the late-night messages, the scheduling, the problem-solving, the bookkeeping, and the constant mental checklist that comes with running a business.

Being a small business owner very often means I’m sacrificing evenings, weekends, family time, and the ability to truly "clock out."

Some days are exhausting. But then you look at the clients who trust you, the progress you've made, and the business you've built from the ground up—and it reminds you why you started.

One of the greatest rewards is knowing my kids get to see what hard work and dedication look like firsthand. They see the early mornings. The extra long days. They are seeing the effort it takes to build something meaningful. Them being proud of me and my work is what pushes me every day- but this girl right here- she is something special. She looks forward to helping clean Salon 130 Plant Boutique & Salon130Mason every other week. It’s our quality time & from her words “we’re a great team!” 🥹

Small businesses aren't built during business hours alone. They're built in all the extra moments nobody sees & the family behind it all is our foundation.

To every small business owner putting in the work behind the scenes: keep going, and I hope your family supports you as much as mine 🤍

Booked. Busy. Grateful.

Thanks to your support, Michigan Maid is temporarily pausing new appointments while we catch our breath and continue growing 🤍
