This one was on the brink—but we brought it back.

A client’s aging block foundation was starting to fail due to poor hydrostatic pressure relief. We stepped in just in time, installing an interior sump pump system and an exterior French drain to manage water properly and protect the structure long-term.

Huge shoutout to our go-to concrete pro .kirwan.18 for turning the block work into a true masterpiece and reinforcing it with much-needed rebar for added strength.

Another foundation saved and built to last for years to come.

If the storm delivers the amount of snow currently forecasted, we’ll have a backhoe available for driveway and lot clearing in the Marshfield, Scituate, and Norwell areas. Rates vary depending on the job. Reach out if you need to get cleared out.

We wrapped up 2025 with a great project at a returning client’s home in . The job began with demolishing the existing front porch concrete slab and installing a properly compacted crushed stone base to improve drainage for the new slab.

Next, we rerouted the home’s water service. The original line entered through the crawlspace, so we connected at the curb valve and trenched a new line directly into the main, full-size basement for improved access.

To prepare for the home’s new bump-out and a future farmer’s porch, we installed eight 5-foot-tall concrete piers, providing a solid foundation for the upcoming expansion.

We just wrapped up back-to-back stone and pipe septic system installs.
The first project in required a pump system due to a tight backyard that couldn’t accommodate both the tanks and the leaching field. Morse Engineering Company, Inc. designed the solution with the leaching field located in the front yard. Battling wind and cold for the last couple of weeks wasn’t ideal, but as excavation contractors in New England, it’s all part of the job.
The second system was gravity-fed—night and day by comparison. A large yard, great layout, and some of the best soil we get to work with made for a much smoother install. The change of pace was definitely appreciated.

We recently completed a 4 bedroom septic system upgrade in Cohasset, MA. On day one, the tank installation proceeded smoothly, but on day two, while excavating the leaching field, we encountered an issue with the electric service to the house, which had been mis-marked by DigSafe by 8 feet. Unfortunately, we struck the line, and subsequently spent the remainder of the day digging a trench for a new conduit from the service handhole to the existing conduit. Following the repair of the electric service, we continued our excavation, only to encounter a substantial section of ledge, necessitating a redesign of the field layout. Ultimately, despite unforeseen challenges, our expertise and patience enabled us to complete the project, and the homeowners are extremely satisfied with the final topography of their yard.

We completed our second septic installation in Minot this month. This involved rerouting the water line, installing the tank in the backyard with a 65-foot run to the LC-6 chambers in the front yard. The jobsite presented a significant challenge due to its tight space and numerous features that required reassembly, but we successfully rose to the occasion!

A homeowner was experiencing drainage issues with their overgrown swale, which was exacerbated by the connection of downspouts and a sump pump discharge line. The initial installation of the sump line was flawed, with the pipe terminating at the bottom of the swale. This design flaw caused the swale to fill with three feet of water during heavy rainfall, resulting in the backup of the sump line and subsequent overflow near a basement window, allowing water to reenter the house. To address this issue, we excavated the swale, removing grass, moss, and loamy material until we reached a gravel layer that facilitated efficient drainage. We then reconfigured the drain pipes, elevating their position and ensuring proper function. The swale was subsequently filled with 3/4-inch crushed stone to enhance its capacity to handle water from downspouts, the sump pump, and neighboring driveway runoff. Finally, we finished the swale with decorative 2-4 inch river stone from Smith and Sons, Landscape, Forestry and Power Equipment Company.
