🐦 WHY DO BIRDS NEST IN VENTS? 🐦
Finding a bird nest in a vent on your home? It may seem like an unusual place to build a nest, but to a bird, a vent can look like the perfect spot! 🏠
Birds may choose vents because they can provide:
🌡️ Warmth – Vents can offer protection from cold temperatures and weather.
🛡️ Shelter – A vent can provide a protected space away from predators.
🏠 Easy access – Open or damaged vent covers can create an easy entry point.
🐣 A safe place to raise young – Once a bird finds a suitable location, it may return or continue using the area for nesting.
⚠️ But a nest in a vent can become a problem for your home. Nesting material can restrict airflow, create blockages, and in some cases contribute to moisture or other issues.
If you notice birds repeatedly entering a vent, hear activity coming from inside, or discover nesting material around a vent, don't simply seal the opening. There may be birds or young inside.
🐦 The best solution is to identify the activity, address the wildlife safely, and then secure the entry point to help prevent future problems.
