FOLLOW UP - Morris County, NJ

Earlier this month, we posted about this “pool” (really a giant spa) with 18 jets, a waterfall, and 14 plumbing lines that had been leaking for years.

Customer had already dug up sections of the yard with a backhoe trying to find the problem with no luck.

Well… here’s the follow up.

Customer excavated the area we marked out and found the break EXACTLY where we pinpointed it - almost 4 FEET down. The issue ended up being a glue fitting that had completely popped apart underground.

This is why accurate leak detection matters. Digging blindly on a system like this could turn into a disaster real fast - especially with this much underground plumbing.

Instead of tearing apart the entire yard, we were able to narrow it down to the exact area of the break and save the customer from a much bigger excavation project.

Customer was extremely happy once they uncovered it and saw we were spot on.

STOP GUESSING - PINPOINT THE PROBLEM FIRST.

PREVIOUS “REPAIR” FAILED

This fiberglass pool on Staten Island was leaking from the wall return fitting. The fitting had been repaired previously, but the repair completely failed.

The customer had no idea the fitting was repaired in the first place because the original company never explained what was done. Then during winterization, the pool company installed a winter plug into the wall return, which ended up damaging the old repair.

Rather than continuing to put band-aids on a damaged fitting, we recommended replacing the entire fitting so the problem could be solved the right way and not become an ongoing issue every season. We will be going back out this week to make a PROPER repair.

This is exactly why proper diagnosis, communication, and long-term solutions matter.

SPA WAS LOSING 1" OF WATER EVERY 2 HOURS

This spa in Deal, NJ was losing water FAST whenever the system was running. Since this is a vacation home, the homeowner wasn’t there enough to really monitor what was happening or help provide information to help us narrow down the issue - so their pool service company brought us in to figure it out.

We pressure tested the spa plumbing system and confirmed a broken spa jet line underground. After identifying the leaking line, we used our specialized equipment to pinpoint the exact spot of the break so the repair could be made without ripping up all the stone around the spa.

This is exactly why full diagnostics that include pressure testing matters. Without properly testing the plumbing, you’re just guessing.

LEAK FOUND IN BRAND NEW POOL!

Brand new gunite pool in Stockton, NJ - the pool was losing 1" of water per day less, than a month after being filled. The pool builder contacted us to help locate the issue so they could get it resolved quickly and correctly.

We pressure tested the plumbing and confirmed a broken return line underground. Using our specialized equipment, we were able to pinpoint the exact location of the break so the repair could be focused to one specific area instead of unnecessary digging throughout the brand new backyard.

The lines had already been pressure tested earlier this spring before the pool was filled, but with all the construction going on around the yard afterward, something must have happened along the way.

Credit to the pool company on this one - no excuses, no finger pointing, no wasting time. Their only concern was finding the problem and getting it fixed for the customer.

Beautiful backyard and a beautiful pool - now they know exactly where the problem is.

🚨 POOL LIGHT LEAK FOUND IN PRINCETON, NJ 🚨

This customer in Princeton, NJ was losing approximately 1-2 inches of water per day.

Within 15 minutes of arriving, we were able to determine that the pool light was the source of the leak, before even getting into the pool.

How? Because leak detection is about much more than scuba diving. We use specialized equipment and proven testing methods to quickly narrow down the problem and confirm exactly where the water is escaping.

In this case, the pool light had been repaired previously, but that repair had failed. We removed the old material and made a new underwater repair to permanently stop the leak.

Water Level Low? We’ll Find Out Why.

05/15/2026

💦 LOSING 1.5 INCHES OF WATER PER DAY IS NOT EVAPORATION. 💦

We were called out to Morris County, New Jersey to investigate a pool that was losing approximately 1.5 inches of water every single day.

The water loss was so significant that the homeowner had installed an automatic water filler just to keep the pool at a safe operating level.

After testing the pool, we quickly identified the source of the leak - it was inside the pool light niche.

The entire repair was completed underwater, with no need to lower the water level and no excavation required.

The homeowner is in the process of selling their house, and now they can move forward knowing the pool is fully operational and no longer leaking.

This is a perfect example of why it’s important to have a pool leak professionally diagnosed. What seems like a mystery leak can often be identified and repaired quickly when you know exactly where to look.

If your pool is losing water, don’t keep filling it and hoping for the best - give us a call!

💦 IS YOUR POOL LOSING WATER? GIVE US A CALL! 💦

We were out in Manahawkin, New Jersey to investigate a fiberglass pool that was losing water.

The problem? The skimmer was in rough shape.

It had clearly been repaired before using epoxy, but the previous repairs were no longer holding. The skimmer had significant cracking and separation, and water was leaking through multiple areas.

At that point, another patch would have only been a temporary fix.

We recommended replacing the entire skimmer so the problem could be resolved properly once and for all.

The homeowner agreed, and we completed the full skimmer replacement in approximately 5-6 hours.

Years of water leaking from the damaged skimmer had washed out the base beneath the surrounding pavers, causing noticeable patio settlement around the pool.

Since the patio was already opened to access the skimmer, we were able to recompact the area, restore the base, and reset the pavers as part of the repair. The result is a properly functioning skimmer and a patio that is now level and stable again.

As the photos show, once the repair was completed, everything was back to normal and you can't even tell we were there.

This is a great example of why repeated patch jobs eventually stop making sense. Sometimes the best and most cost-effective solution is to replace the damaged component and fix the underlying issue permanently.

If your pool is losing water, don’t keep guessing or wasting money on temporary repairs - give us a call!

💦 STOP LOSING WATER. CALL TODAY. 💦

We were out on Long Beach Island this week to work on a leaking fiberglass pool.

Within 10 minutes of arriving, we had already pinpointed the source of the leak, a failed wall return fitting.

Because the homeowners were heading back home and wouldn’t be at the property to keep an eye on the water level, we performed a temporary repair on Monday to immediately stop the water loss and protect the pool.

We then returned on Thursday to complete the permanent repair by replacing the damaged wall fitting.

As you can see from the photos, the patio had to be opened to access the fitting behind the pool wall. Once the repair was complete, everything was restored, and you can’t even tell we were there.

This is exactly why experience matters.

The leak was identified quickly, the water loss was stopped right away, and the permanent repair was completed just a few days later with minimal disruption to the property.

Just because the pool water is going down fast, doesn't mean your pool leak will be obvious.

The leak shown in this video and photo was located underneath a vinyl liner seam. It was completely invisible to the naked eye. There was no obvious tear, no visible separation, and nothing a visual inspection would have been able to find.

Using specialized electronic leak detection equipment, we were able to identify the exact area where the water was leaking.

This is exactly why hiring a company that does more than just send a diver into the pool is so important.

A diver may be able to spot obvious holes or damaged fittings, but many leaks are hidden under vinyl liner seams, behind pool lights, in underground plumbing, by step and skimmer gaskets - there are so many areas where the leak cannot be seen visually.

Without the right tools, these leaks can easily be missed.

At Atlantic Pool Leak Detection, we combine diving, pressure testing, electronic listening equipment, and proven diagnostic methods to find leaks that other companies often miss.

If your pool is losing water, give us a call.
