🕷️ EIGHT LEGS. ONE GREAT PHOTO.

Have you spotted an interesting spider around your home lately?

Maybe it's a colorful Joro spider, a tiny jumping spider, or one of those ambitious web builders that seems determined to claim your entire front porch.

We'd love to see it!

Inspired by an idea from our own Jody Allan, Dixie's Spider Spotlight is celebrating Georgia's fascinating eight-legged residents, and the people who photograph them.

📸 Send us your favorite original spider photo!

Email: [email protected]

Please include your first name and the city where you spotted it.

Deadline: Sunday, November 1.

We'll share selected customer photographs on our social media pages and highlight one Featured Favorite in early November.

No fancy camera required. Just a good eye and a willingness to appreciate some of nature's more interesting neighbors.

Remember to photograph spiders from a safe distance. No handling necessary!

By submitting a photo, you give Dixie permission to share it with your first name and city in our customer communications and social media.

Well, Fall Finally Showed Up! 🍂

After temperatures in the upper 80s last week, those chilly Georgia mornings are a welcome change.

But while we're pulling out jackets, some of our four-legged neighbors may be exploring places they don't belong.

Hearing scratching, scurrying, or other unusual noises in your attic? Don't assume you know what's making them. Or how they're getting inside.

At Dixie, we believe the best place to start is with a professional wildlife inspection. Identify the visitor, locate potential entry points, and develop the appropriate solution.

Something going on upstairs? Let's find out.

BEFORE YOU SIGN FOR PEST CONTROL, ASK THESE 5 QUESTIONS.

A knock at the door. A special offer. Maybe a little pressure to make a decision right now.

That's a good time to pause.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture recently warned homeowners about increased reports involving unlicensed individuals soliciting pest-control services door-to-door.

Over the years, we've also talked with homeowners who thought they understood the service they were purchasing, only to discover later that the price, recurring agreement, service expectations - or simply who they were doing business with - wasn't quite what they expected.

Before you sign, ask:
✓ Are they licensed or registered?
✓ Who do they represent?
✓ Can you reach them later?
✓ What service is included?
✓ Is it recurring?

A reputable pest-control company should be willing to answer those questions clearly.

At Dixie, every member of our team, both in the field and in our office, is licensed and registered with the Georgia Department of Agriculture. We've served Metro Atlanta since 1963, and we believe homeowners should understand exactly who they're hiring and what they're agreeing to. Basic integrity stuff.

Seeing bats around your roofline at dusk? Hearing activity in the attic?

The first step is not guessing. And it is definitely not sealing an opening and hoping for the best.

A wildlife inspection can help determine what is happening, where bats may be getting in, and what the appropriate next step should be.

Start with inspection. Not guesswork.

A bat problem is not a “seal the hole and hope” situation.

Good bat work starts with good timing, and the time of year matters more than many homeowners realize.

Georgia wildlife guidance recommends avoiding routine bat exclusions from April 1 through July 31, when young bats may not yet be flying on their own.

If you are seeing bats around the roofline at dusk or hearing activity in the attic, the first step is figuring out what is going on - not guessing.

Bats make great neighbors. They’re terrible roommates.

Bats play an important role outdoors, but when they begin using an attic, soffit, vent or opening along a roofline, getting them out is not simply a matter of sealing a hole.

Timing matters, too.

Georgia homeowners should be aware that routine bat exclusions are generally avoided during the period when young bats may not yet be able to fly.

If you are seeing bats around your roofline at sunset or hearing activity in the attic, Dixie can help determine what is happening and what should happen next.
