It's a bittersweet day as I finally day goodbye to being a professional house cleaner. The old body just couldn't keep up! Amazing amounts of thanks to the loyal and wonderful clients who have kept me in business these past 4 (5?) years. It has been a real honor to be allowed into their homes and lives. I will not forget them!!

It's time for another Tip Tuesday! (Yes, I missed last week. I'm just going to roll with it!)

Do you have a nasty ring around your toilet bowl from the sitting water that's impossible to clean? Use this handy tool! You get it wet (I just use the post-cleaning sparkling toilet bowl water), then scrub it away. It's super easy!

Do not try it on your sinks! I made that mistake and now have scratches. But for that toilet bowl, nothing works better!

If you live near Maple Grove, you can find it at Menards for under $2!

Tip Tuesday!

I want to share this product with you. It's AMAZING. It does have kind of funny smell, but it works SO WELL. I use Bar Keeper's Friend (liquid version) to clean dingy sinks and to get water spots off of shower fixtures and faucets.

It can only be used on certain surfaces, so check the bottle and always test in a small spot.

This liquid version is a life-saver! You can sq**rt it on a vertical surface and it stays!

Happy cleaning!

I somehow missed last week, so this week is a two-fer!

Let's talk pet hair and dust.

You have to keep on top of pet hair because that stuff gets EVERYWHERE.

First tip: Use a squeegee to pull up pet hair. It works on furniture, comforters, and carpet. Once you pull it together, either vaccuum it up or lint roller to get the rest.

Second tip: Use that lint roller for the pet hair AND to take the dust off of your lampshades!

Hey! What happened to Tuesday?!

I guess it's tip Wednesday!

Do you have shiny metal faucets in your kitchen or bath that have hard-water spots on them? It's super easy to get rid of them! Use this silver scrubbie and they are gone.

DO NOT USE on brushed nickel or brushed bronze!

Happy cleaning!

Tip Tuesday: Birthday edition!

Say hey it's my birthday! And this is my new favorite tip.

Do you have grout and HATE cleaning it? Try this handy trick!
Take the brush off of a hand dish brush (hint: you can buy just the brush part at Target!). It already has a hole in it. Put a flat-end screw in it, and tighten with a nut. Then, put that baby in your drill and voila! Grout tool!

HINT: you will need to put the drill on "reverse" in order to keep the nut from unscrewing itself.

Hold on tight! This thing has some power!

I like to use a mixture of baking soda, vinegar, and Dawn dish soap as the cleanser.. Power brush and let sit 15 minutes. Then rinse.

Happy cleaning!!

Tip Tuesday! Just in time for all the cooking about to go down for Thanksgiving!

Have a nasty looking stove-top? Either gas, electric, or glass, this method works.

Pour baking soda on mess, add some Dawn dish soap, drizzle on Hydrogen Peroxide. Mix it around (use gloves!) and let it sit for 15 minutes. After that, get out your non-scratch sponge and get to scrubbing! Then rinse with a wet cloth and dry with a dry cloth.

Back to beautiful!!

Oh my word it's Tuesday! Do you ever have one of those days where you are certain that it's a different day? Totally thought it was Wednesday all day! This is what happens when you are off work for recovery from surgery!

Today's tip: Baking soda!

Sprinkle that stuff on EVERYTHING! It's great at removing odors from carpets and furniture. Sprinkle, let sit about 15 minutes, then vacuum it up. Easy peasy. Stinky shoe closet? Put an open box of baking soda in there. Smelly trash can? That's right. Just add baking soda!!

Baking soda is also a great scrubbing aid for pretty much anything. Test it in a small spot first with just a tiny bit of water and see what happens. (Some things, like brushed nickel, can scratch easily, so definitely test in an inconspicuous area first.)

Mix it with my other best cleaning friend, Vinegar, and you can clean just about anything!

Happy Cleaning!

It's Tuesday and I'm back! Not quite ready to get back to work, but I can share a tip!

Another quick tip today (as I've already had to re-write almost every word while typing with stitches).

VACUUMING!

The key to vacuuming is to go slowly on the reverse. It gives the brush and suction more time to really get into the carpet fibers and pull out the dirt.

Also make sure that your vacuum height setting is as low as your type of carpet dictates. If I can, I sometimes even go for the setting one lower than that.

That's it! Happy Cleaning!!

Tip Tuesday #6!

This may seem super simple, but the best way to clean your house is from top down.

In the kitchen, that means wiping cabinets or range microwaves first, then counters/sink/oven and then floor.

Same in the rest of the house:

Bathroom: Dust light fixture, then mirrors, then counters, then toilet, then tub/shower, then floor.

Living room: Dust, clean widows, then vacuum/sweep/mop.

Let gravity be your helper!

Happy Cleaning!!

Tuesday once again!! And it was a busy one! WOW!

I tried a new trick this week and I'm happy to share it with you. I usually don't like to use magic erasers since they have chemicals, but darn it all if it doesn't work its magic on glass shower doors!

Just wet the eraser, use a little elbow grease, and it gets all nice and shiny! Wipe it down with a wet cloth after and then a dry cloth.

Want to keep those shower doors nice? Use a squeegee after every shower.

See comments below for really stubborn soap scum.
