Howdy everyone! We had a small crack repair today in this blistering heat. Thankfully we only had to drain the pool to a few inches below the end of the crack.

Cracks can be deceiving as this one we still continued for a few inches past what had shown in the plaster. Got it Fixed! and time to get this pool back in service!

Follow-up to the North Grand Prairie leak check.

This is why we pressure test before we start guessing.

This late 70s pool had a strange water-loss pattern that seemed to point toward the pool lights. But the lights had already been repaired.

After isolating the system, we found return line and spa main drain line leaks, plus a hairline crack in the main drain bucket/sump near the collar, hidden under plaster.

These photos show the repair side: opening the area, exposing the plumbing, repairing the failed components, and putting the system back together properly.

Homeowner lesson:

A pool leak is not always where it appears to be. Water level clues matter, but pressure testing helps show what is really going on.

The leak was not where it looked.

This late 70s pool in North Grand Prairie had an unusual setup: all the returns were in the floor.

The water loss appeared to line up near the pool light level, but the lights had already been repaired. A full pressure leak check helped isolate the system and showed return line and spa main drain line leaks.
