I apologize this is a long read, but needed to be said. Owning a small business does not have all the perks/ benefits people believe. Rarely do we get to take a vacation together and when most people are off work we are still going strong getting ready for the next day, logging hours, doing payroll, etc. we are not complaining. We love what we do and are VERY PROUD of what we built and what we have. But the one thing that customers do not understand is when they cancel their service for the day how that affects Sol to the Moon. Well we still have to pay our employees and all associated cost of running a small business. Yes, there is a lot of cost involved. We have always tried to be flexible and provide a service our customers cannot live without, we give our customers an assigned day their cleaning will be on,we text the night before with arrival time, we over communicate, we try and accommodate all holiday schedules, etc. so when someone cancels it throws the schedule off because we could have scheduled someone else in their place or adjusted our schedule accordingly for the day. Also, cancelling creates more work for us when we finally do come clean, but people think since we aren’t home our house will not need cleaning, etc. and yet know one offers to pay for cancelling. We have a $75 cancellation fee and this seems to upset some of our customers. Again, as a small business we lose money when someone cancels.
This is one of the most frustrating aspects of owning a small business.
