First time cleaning a Pacific Gas Specialties grill 🧼

Very similar to a Lynx in its set up

The left igniter was toast along with warping of the stainless steel grates and cracking in the burners.

This likely occured because he had decided to take out the moon rocks (same as ceramic briquettes/rods) and the heat from the flames was not being dispersed properly throughout the grill.

When that happens, the metal parts become hotter than what they are supposed to function at properly thus leading to issues like heat corrosion/cracking.

Grill cleaning + burner and flavor zone replacement for a client in Watermill 👍🏼

All five burners were completely corroded through which meant the gas would seep out and the ability to ignite the grill was lost.

The five flavor shields (which have the same function as flavorizer bars) were completely pitted and degraded as well.
You can see the difference from the first 📸➡️ second 📸. Looks like they weren't even there in the first 😂

They had the grill for six years and never cleaned it once so we did our best!

This is what 90% of the grills I clean look like before I even lay a hand on them ❗️

Accumulated carbon, heavily rusted and corroded interior parts, oxidation, and loads of ash and food debris.

The seasonings and animal fats from meats cause the stainless steel parts to break down when left uncleaned. The results speak for themselves..

The biggest risk posed is thermal runaway- which is when spikes in temperatures lead to a fire. This happens from malfunctioning parts, heavy oxygen, and carbon and grease accumulation.
