School's in folks!!! Time for a lesson, hard learned by yours truly!!

I did an amazing move out clean Friday. Nearly a 4k sq ft! Huge, old beautiful home! Thank the sweet baby Jesus, I took my son with me.

So while I was dusting the dryer lint that accumulated on the baseboards and pipes (the washer and dryer had been removed).. I suddenly found myself in the midst of a hard-core shower. The water line snapped. Water was flying at me like it was a super charged Fire hose. Talk about panic, anyone?! I screamed for my son, who apparently thought i was overexaggerating until he saw the snapped line. I had him give me the mop bucket as, fortunately, there was a utility sink next to the broken line. While I sat drenched on the floor bailing water as much as possible, I told him to go find the water valve to shut off the water. Thankfully he has construction experience and found the right one fairly quick. Had I been alone .. oh boy.. I'd have sat there on the floor crying, bailing water until help arrived! I couldn't even make a call as the bucket was filling up too fast. So we got the got the valve off.. cleaned up the mess (which also had leaked gallons through the floor to the utility closet in basement).
I am eternally grateful and blessed the homeowner acknowledged the pipes were old and brittle and was more worried about my distress!

So.. the lesson here ladies and gents... if you don’t know where or how to find the main water valve in a home.. do it. You never know when you'll need that gem of knowledge!!!
