Here we are stripping off wax and polish from hardwood floors. Floors become black, gray, and develop a sticky crust from over the counter products. We strip all of this build-up off and deep clean the hardwood floors. We are able to get the floors back to their original color and sheen.

Wood Vitalize is proud to be an ongoing trusted hardwood flooring contractor for the Park Avenue Armory, chosen because of our experience and expertise in historic hardwood floor restoration and preservation.

For this restoration inside Thompson Hall, the goal wasn’t to simply sand the entire floor. With historic flooring, preserving the original wood and protecting its longevity is always the priority. Every unnecessary sanding removes part of a floor that can never be replaced.

Instead, our team performed precision spot dustless sanding and repairs, carefully addressing only the areas that needed restoration while preserving as much of the original historic flooring as possible.

Matching a floor with this much history takes experience. We used multiple custom colors, stains, toners, and specialized blending techniques to recreate the existing tones, aging, and character of the surrounding wood—allowing the restored areas to blend naturally into the original floor.

We then utilized our instant UV-cured polyurethane technology, allowing the finish to be cured immediately and the space returned to service without the traditional downtime.

Historic restoration isn’t about making an old floor look brand new. It’s about preserving its history, restoring what needs to be restored, and extending its life for generations to come.
