A Professional Notice to Cleaning Companies & Clients
I’m sharing this post because I care deeply about the cleaning-business community and the clients who trust us to enter their homes.
I want to encourage cleaning companies and homeowners considering hiring **Jamie Overbey** to exercise caution and conduct thorough reference and background checks before allowing anyone into a home or placing them in a position of trust.
During Jamie’s time working with **Layne Cleaning Co.**, I became aware of concerns involving missing property from client homes. These concerns included money and prescription medication. Unfortunately, I do not have the type of physical evidence that would allow me to publicly establish exactly what happened, so I want to be very clear that I am sharing this as a warning based on my experience and concerns—not as a criminal finding.
I have also been contacted by another established cleaning company that reports experiencing a similar concern involving missing prescription medication. I cannot independently verify what occurred in that situation, and I will not present another company's allegation as proven fact.
What I *can* speak to is my own experience as a business owner. Before these concerns arose, Jamie was someone who helped me considerably during a difficult personal period, and I compensated her for the additional help she provided. Unfortunately, that relationship ultimately left me with serious concerns regarding trust and the handling of clients' belongings.
I also experienced issues with work not being completed as expected, including a home that was only partially cleaned despite the agreed-upon work.
I am not making this post to attack, harass, or publicly shame anyone. I am making it because trust is extremely important in our industry. Cleaning professionals are given access to people's homes, valuables, medications, personal information, and private spaces. Both business owners and homeowners deserve to take reasonable precautions when deciding who they allow into their homes.
**My recommendation to anyone considering hiring Jamie is simple:**
* Conduct your own thorough reference checks.
* Verify employment history independently.
* Secure medications, cash, jewelry, and other valuables.
* Avoid leaving someone you do not yet know and trust alone in a home.
* Document the condition of the home and any valuable items when appropriate.
* If you have concerns about missing property or controlled medication, contact the appropriate authorities rather than relying solely on social-media accusations.
I also want to address one personal matter because inaccurate statements about me have circulated. I am not going to engage in a back-and-forth online or make accusations about anyone's personal life. I had all four wisdom teeth removed on July 6 and was prescribed pain medication during my recovery. That was a legitimate medical prescription, and I have not taken any in well over a month.
I have spent the past year and a half building Layne Cleaning Co. through the trust of our clients, and I am proud of the recommendations and long-term relationships I’ve established. This situation has been extremely disappointing, but I intend to handle it professionally.
**Please protect your clients, your employees, your homes, and your businesses. Do your due diligence before hiring anyone—regardless of who they are.**
