Personnel Spotlight: K9 Officer Humiston
Officer Hallie Humiston serves as a K9 Handler on one of our night shifts, working alongside her partner, K9 Apollo. She has been in law enforcement for three and a half years, all of which have been spent with the Palm Bay Police Department.
She credits her cadet advisors from back home with shaping her path in law enforcement. When she first joined the cadet program, she wasn’t sure what direction her life would take. Through their mentorship and guidance, she discovered her goals and grew into the person and officer she is today.
Her proudest moment so far has been earning the opportunity to become a K9 Handler, a role that allows her to partner with Apollo and contribute in a unique way to the safety of the community.
What she enjoys most is the strong sense of family within the department. Since moving to Florida, she has found that no matter which squad she is on, it always feels like one big family.
She also believes Palm Bay’s diversity is underrated. The wide range of cultures represented in the city provides opportunities to learn from others and experience different perspectives.
